Tutoring is often thought of when a student falls behind or fails a course. It is also an excellent way for professionals to get targeted help if they are advancing their careers with a professional certification.

How much does Varsity Tutors cost for students in Wylie?

The cost of tutoring for students in Wylie will be based on your unique learning needs. For one, the number of sessions you need can affect the rate per session.

Continuous sessions throughout your student's entire science course may cost less per session than if you sign up for a smaller number of sessions to prepare for your upcoming GMAT. The expertise of your tutor can also play into the cost of tutoring. For example, it may cost a different amount for you to study for the LSAT with a retired law professor than it would for your middle school student to work on reading comprehension with a college student. Tutoring review by Helen Joan in Wylie, TX
I meet the student and his mother for our session. We discussed strategies for being more organized at school. We discussed advantages and disadvantages of using a planner. Much of the rest of our session was spent discussing the student's school, each class he is taking and his interests in sports and baseball. I asked him to experiment with using an online calendar before our next meeting.

Tutoring review by Ari in Wylie, TX
The student doesn't always seem to take in all the info from class by herself, and tends to think she doesn't understand any of it. But with a simple explanation, she picks things up very quickly. We covered different derivative techniques - power, product, quotient and chain rule. After doing a few problems together and clarifying the techniques, she was able to apply these rules herself at a very high level. I was especially impressed with her almost immediate grasp of the chain rule.

Tutoring review by Rachel in Wylie, TX
The student's class had begun a new unit, focusing mainly on piecewise functions. We used this session to work through his homework and review topics relevant to the new concepts. At first we went over how to graph linear and quadratic functions. He picked back up on this after we went through a few examples together. He was then able to understand the idea that piecewise functions use many functions together on the same graph with limits based on conditional statements. Overall he was able to work through all of the problems on his homework with minimal assistance.

The student worked on more practice problems, while reviewing strategies and equations she's going to encounter on the SAT. She should continue reviewing the equations and using the strategies like picking and choosing numbers. Good luck!

The student had a test on 10/15, so we reviewed the material that would be covered on the exam. To do so, I went through her class notes slide by slide to ensure she understood the material and see if I could offer any additional explanation. I asked questions along the way, and she was very responsive. I believe she will do well on her test as she seems to be a hard worker. Her mother expressed some concerns regarding her grasping concepts versus memorizing information, so I put emphasis on this as we reviewed. I think in time and with practice, she will definitely be able to succeed in her course!

Tutoring review by Carrie in Wylie, TX
In this session, we reviewed the homework questions and the review sheets provided by the student's professor. We went over different forms of linear equations (point-slope, slope-intercept, and standard form) and how to graphs these equations. We also touched on polynomials. One main habit we focused on in this session was being sure to write out every step when solving a problem. Any steps left out can mean a drastic drop in credit because the professor doesn't know how you got from one step to the next. I think this was a successful session for the material we reviewed.
