Certified Engineering Tutors and Instructors

Finding the right engineering tutor on your own can be challenging. Why not allow us to handle the hard work for you? We've already thoroughly vetted a wide list of engineering instructors to ensure their competencies.

We place an emphasis on matching students with tutors who have proven subject matter expertise and the ability to adapt their lessons. Your engineering tutor can create a customized study plan for you that covers statics, dynamics, solid mechanics, and any other concepts you'd like to explore. You can work through these at your own pace and ask questions as often as you have them. This kind of individualized attention is key to what makes tutoring so effective.

How much does an engineering tutor cost?

The cost of tutoring is based on your specific needs. For instance, if you're taking an advanced engineering course, you may need to work with a teacher who has expertise in that area.

Or, maybe you have an important exam coming up and you'd like to meet with your tutor more often than you otherwise would. Factors like these can impact how much you end up paying for meeting with a tutor. To get more specific pricing information based on your needs, reach out to us. We're happy to tell you more about your options.

How does engineering tutoring work?

There are a few different learning opportunities you can pursue. We can find you find group engineering tutoring, an online engineering class, or one-on-one study sessions.

If you choose individual tutoring, you'll meet with your instructor on our Live Learning Platform. It features helpful tools like a virtual whiteboard that enables you to interact with your tutor effortlessly. Additionally, all study sessions that take place on the platform are recorded. This is done so you can go back to review the help you've received whenever you want. It's another example of how we're making working with a tutor online easy.

How do I excel at engineering?

Engineering is a broad field that encompasses many complicated concepts. Excelling at engineering will require you to work both hard and consistently.

However, even the brightest students will run into problem areas from time to time while studying engineering. That's why tutoring can be so beneficial. It offers you the individualized attention you need to move beyond your problem areas and continue making efficient progress towards your goals. Your tutor can bridge the gap between the instruction you're currently getting in the classroom and the instruction you wish you were getting.

Is engineering difficult to learn?

Engineering is a complicated subject that can be challenging for some learners to fully comprehend without assistance. You could study engineering on your own, but the progress you make likely wouldn't be as consistent or efficient as it would be if you studied with an engineering tutor.

When you're ready to get started with engineering tutoring, just reach out to Varsity Tutors. We specialize in providing learners like you with individualized tutoring matches based on their specific needs. We'd love to help you take the next step towards your academic goals and hope to hear from you soon to begin.

How can Engineering tutoring help you?

The discipline of engineering requires students to take stock of a problematic real-world situation, represent it using quantitative calculations, and use the results of these calculations. In order to do this successfully, you will be required to use some creativity and critical thinking skills to design the most efficient, sensible answer to the problem presented. Given the wide variety of skills that engineering students are expected to draw upon when designing a solution to a problem, it can be difficult to diagnose exactly where a student is struggling when he or she cannot come up with an effective solution. Similarly, the field of engineering is divided into many subfields, and resources that can help a student gain the knowledge he or she needs to succeed in chemical engineering, for example, may have nothing to do with the material a budding civil engineer needs to learn.

Engineering tutoring is rooted in developing a client's problem-solving skills and critical-thinking abilities within the context of their existing engineering coursework and experience. Varsity Tutors can help you connect with engineering tutors who are knowledgeable in every major engineering discipline, including biomedical engineering, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, and aerospace engineering. Not only are these engineering tutors well versed in the topics they tutor, they are also excellent communicators who have made it through a rigorous selection process.

In this first session, we mainly covered DNA/RNA transcription and translation, as well as some basic genetics topics (dominance/co-dominance/hybrid vigor). The student seemed to develop a better grasp of the material as we went along, and we will certainly review at our next meeting.

The student and I worked through her Biology and Geometry. In Geometry, she is working on trigonometry to solve unknown sides and angles in a triangle. She has a great understanding due to the prior work with Pythagorean theorem. She is able to easily grasp the concepts and apply them to various problems. We also worked through her Biology homework. She is working on Meiosis and Mitosis. She has an upcoming test and was given a review guide.

During this session we reviewed some Biology, specifically covering a chapter in the student's textbook on genetics. We reviewed some basic ideas related to genetics such as genes and alleles and allele dominance. We then talked about Mendel's experiments and how Mendel deduced his principles of genetics. We then talked about what occurs during crosses and how genes segregate and rearrange to give specific phenotypes. We also discussed test crosses to determine whether an individual is heterozygous or homozygous. We then solved problems on these topics practicing Punnett squares and their percentage calculations, and reviewing some of Mendel's laws and applying them to specific examples.

Today, we covered some elements of the nervous system; specifically, neuron morphology, resting potential, action potential channels, and action potential propagation. Student appeared to have a pretty good handle of the information in general, and with picture drawing was able to keep the facts she needed to know in order. Student had midterm on Thursday, and is continuing to work on problems in her problem book to ensure she understands all necessary concepts. No concerns from this session.

We went over the student's recent class topics on genetics, heredity and also flower reproduction. After going through the textbook content, we went through all of his relevant in-class worksheets and made sure to go over every question together and analyze why each answer he chose was right or wrong. Overall, the student made great progress and demonstrated a good grasp on the material.
