Tutoring review by Ian in Garland, TX
I thought we had a great first session.  Having one on one time to have questions fully answered and concepts fully explained really made the difference between red and green on the student's homework problems.  Continued work like this, and more detailed analysis as we continue to work, will improve the student's problem solving confidence and ability to succeed in the class. It will also provide the mathematical framework and foundation for what ever major he chooses.

The student and I went over a few practice problems recommended by his professor.  Topics included finding the limit of given equations using the definition of a derivative equation.  We were able to complete all the practice problems he had for that week in an hour.  I did not have to do a review lesson for him since it seemed that he understood the concepts. From what I can gather, he works very hard, attends all classes, and does all the work.

The student and I met from 11:30-1:10 pm. We discussed the grading format in his course and started work on his practice packet which prepares him for the test. We reviewed several of the key concepts and left some of the practice problems for him to complete on his own. We will be meeting twice next week.

Tutoring review by Brett in Garland, TX
We went over what she had learned taking the test prep course and we also went over the test she took in June. Her goal is to make some dramatic improvements on that score in preparation for the October test. Her accuracy is about the same across all three types of sections so we decided to start working on the Logical Reasoning because they account for 50% of the final score. I had her do short groups of questions, untimed, and we went over the answers together. I recommended she not spend time writing and diagramming answers. By the end of the session she was already showing improvement. I assigned another Logical Reasoning section for homework and we are to meet on Sunday at 3:00.

The student and I discussed the book he was reading for English class. Then we spent time speaking in German. I asked him questions about things in the room/house etc. Then I asked him to list the nominative, accusative, and dative personal pronouns, the accusative prepositions, and dative prepositions.
