Tutoring review by Kaleb in Weldon Spring, MO
We covered solubility, more equilibrium, and kinetics problems. The student struggles with symbolic thinking, but I will tailor future sessions to address mathematical reasoning skills. The student is fairly confident in concepts. I offered my email for any questions before a test on Thursday.

The student has another test tomorrow dealing with mainly problems from chapter 6, which focuses mainly on using integrals to estimate areas and volumes. I helped her prepare for her test by going over the concepts in chapter 6 while also assisting her with several worksheet problems. I also demonstrated how to find the formula for volume of a sphere, cone, and pyramid using the techniques we've developed. As the session went on, I could tell many of these review concepts came very quickly to her, and I think she's learned a lot since we started tutoring!

Tutoring review by Sirish in Weldon Spring, MO
We went over some of the problems the student was struggling with, primarily involving product rule and quotient rule. When we went through it together meticulously, he understood it pretty well. We then went over finding derivatives of trigonometric functions, which he also knew pretty well. We went over piecewise functions and how you can make them differentiable by solving a system of equations. Finally, we looked further ahead into his chapters and covered related rates and linear approximation. Related rates is tricky, and we'll probably cover it again, but linear approximations he understands very well.

We covered elasticity and international trade. The student was struggling most with understanding elasticity conceptually. He was strongest in the math parts. We reviewed the different ways of understanding the concept of elasticity and did several problems on elasticity and international trade. He was able to explain elasticity and answer conceptual questions by the end of the session, and he said he felt more confident about the topics.

The student took charge of the review session on properties of quadrilaterals. She was able to answer all the questions with very little input or prompting from me. After reviewing Geometry, we worked on an Algebra review worksheet provided by her teacher. Topics included: factoring quadratics, simplifying radicals (and rationalizing denominators), solving linear systems, solving linear equations containing fractions, and solving absolute value equations.

Tutoring review by Ilana in Weldon Spring, MO
Today we covered idioms, vocabulary, spelling, abbreviations, and action verbs. We also worked on math to prepare for the student's test on Thursday. We practiced place value and expanded form. He scored a 92% on his math practice test I created for him based on his homework and teacher-provided practice test. His teacher provides him with an hour of homework a night. It is clear that the student struggles to complete it and focus the whole time. However, he did great and is already making progress working at a slower pace.
