This was a final exam review with the student. We worked on algebra review. We then focused on graphs and transformations and writing in vertex forms. We also reviewed the vertex formula and factoring. We finished with polynomial inequalities. He has improved with factoring. He knows the material but should certainly review further.

Tutoring review by Lauren in Middlesex, NJ
I believe this was a very good session where we established a trajectory for the next couple of months that will surely help the student begin processing information as he reads. We will do this by summarizing paragraphs as he reads them, and ending the session with ten minutes of public speaking, wherein I ask a general question based on the book we read and have him talk to me about it.

We reviewed for her test Friday. We looked over old test problems assigned as a study guide for the most part. We practiced using the power, quotient, product, and chain rules. She did a great job as usual!

Tutoring review by Elizabeth in Middlesex, NJ
We spent most of today going over imaginary numbers. The student repeats certain mistakes, like forgetting parentheses or forgetting to distribute negative signs, which often leads to errors even though he has a pretty good grasp of the general solving process. He improves significantly in a concept when he does a few similar problems in a row. We looked over a few of his tests, and we noticed that he does not earn much (or any) credit for problems when he makes errors early on in the problem, even if he does the rest of the problem correctly. I will point out repeated mistakes that he can avoid if he remembers to double-check for them.
