East Brunswick Tutoring FAQ

How much does Varsity Tutors cost for students in East Brunswick?

The amount that you can expect to pay per session with a tutor for students in East Brunswick will depend on your academic needs. For example, a college student who is preparing to take the LSAT or the MCAT will likely pay a different rate than a student at East Brunswick Vo Tech High School who is struggling to make it through an introductory science course.

The number of tutoring sessions you'll need could also be a factor. If you're looking for a tutor who can work with your student on their reading comprehension over several weeks, you might pay a lower rate per session than someone who only needs a few study sessions to prepare for the GMAT.

Today the student and I worked through the problems in Section 5.1 in her text. She worked through most of the problems quickly, however there were 3 or 4 problems that were quite difficult. I will go home and work them out so that she and I can go through them tomorrow when we meet again.

Despite his other pressing priorities (e.g. AP Chemistry and English), the student has completed most of the objectives I've set up for him. I've conducted assessments and now know his weak areas. So, I assigned him targeted reading and strongly urged him to underline significant passages. We've also done plenty of outline prep, which will be important since there are two essay sections on the AP history test

I answered a few of the student's questions and then we went through a practice test he had. He has a much better understanding than he did even earlier this week. He can work the z-score problems well now and has a good grasp of the concepts he needs to spend more time on the confidence interval problems but I think if he continues to spend time with the subject, he'll be prepared for the test

Tutoring review by Andrew in East Brunswick, NJ
Today, we worked first on the use of fio as the passive version of facio, with the caveat that you go back to the passive participle of facio when forming the perfect tense. In the workbook, student did a synopsis of the forms of fio in the indicative and subjunctive, and his main struggle was with the perfect forms, where you have to combine the participle with the correct form of 'to be'. He acknowledged that this was something he didn't remember very well, so we will come back to it next week before their next test. Next we worked on some English-to-Latin sentences in the book, which used the idiom certior fieri/certiorem facere. Once I explained the difference between the two, he had no problem deciding which one to use, but throughout the sentences he tended not to properly conjugate the verbs until prompted. With some guidance, he got to the right forms, though. Finally, we looked ahead to volo and nolo and went through some workbook exercises on those.
