The student had some Math work that we double checked. We also wrote the last body paragraph of her Esperanza Rising essay. She went back through to make sure all of her writing was in the past tense and to make sure pronouns all matched. She was able to make several very nice edits that made her ideas more clear.

Tutoring review by Jeong Hwa Emily in Bound Brook, NJ
The student and I worked on recognizing that in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right. I brought worksheets that help write 6-digit numbers between standard, expanded, and word form. He seemed to understand 6 digits well - he had a couple errors when there were zeros within the number, but caught his mistakes on his own. We also practiced rounding 5 digit numbers to the tenth place. We will continue practice rounding numbers at our next session.

Tutoring review by Ned in Bound Brook, NJ
The student and I began this lesson going through the four practice sections she did for homework, two reading and two math. On one of the readings she only missed 5 questions, which is her best performance on a reading section yet. We went over some of the reading, and she is doing a good job with most passage questions. In some cases she needs to spend a little more time finding the actual answer in the text of the passage to help guide her through a series of answer choices that all seem like possibilities. In both math sections, she missed six questions each. We reviewed a number of these problems, a few of which she certainly would have gotten if it were not for calculation errors. We finished with a reading lesson and a few practice passages. She did an excellent job on these, missing only one question each.
