Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Abigail in White Plains, NY
Today, the student and I split the lesson reviewing some of her schoolwork from last week and continuing our work on percent intuition. I had her break down her schoolwork from the last unit on positive/negative integer operations, using the framework of what was challenging/easy/what I would do differently. She identified addition as the hardest operation for her, and we did a lesson about building intuition for negative number addition on a number line. She also did a great job on percents, building on her breakthrough last time to easily solve percents of word problems. She had some trouble on more challenging percent problems, so we will continue building on that skill, as well as adding in skills from new school work.

The student and I continued moving ahead in Geometry. We completed problems from his workbook, covering quadrilaterals and the properties of the specific quadrilaterals. We also talked through some proofs and did a few coordinate geometry proofs dealing with the midsegments of trapezoids and the diagonals of a kite and rhombus. He has a good handle on this material.

The student's assignments are really stacking up here at the end of the semester. We worked on finishing most of his processing assignment, studying for his biology quiz, and tackling a lot of his Latin America map for geography. He also has to finish a big biology project by Wednesday, as well as prepare for Algebra, English, and Spanish tests this week. We can work hard on the end of the week things when we meet on Wednesday. He has a large chunk of his early week assignments completed.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Liban in White Plains, NY
We went through more history review. I had the student take notes on any topics so that he could retain the information for later use. I had him try it for video assignments first since they were the easiest assignments. Then, I had him do it for vocab and quiz assignments. We were able to get a majority of his assignments completed with an 80% or higher. I assigned him the rest of the homework to complete with the proper notes taken.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Pamela in White Plains, NY
We studied for the student's AP US History class by reviewing his assigned worksheet, looking up various terms, and discussing issues pertaining to the Civil War era. He used his critical thinking skills as he established cause and effect relationships to different political events during the 1800's. He did a great job and should make flashcards as he studies for his next test.
