Online 12th Grade Math Tutoring review by Austin
Student and I continued to cover the material on her study guide. We reviewed the problems we had done last time (specifically piecewise functions and linear functions), and then she finished up the study guide (notably covering a series of interest problems). We spent a bit of time covering quadratic functions and exponential functions as they were also supposed to be on the final in a limited capacity. She seemed to grasp all of the material pretty well, and her understanding seems to be significant. I created a few example problems to make sure that she could confidently solve the types of problems she should see on the final. She did fairly well, but did make some simple mistakes. Fortunately, I think she quickly realized them and understood what was wrong. We will have a final session tomorrow to make sure everything is solidly in her mind.

Today we went over a class worksheet dealing with factoring. We also looked over a test that the student had previously taken. He is showing improved mental math speed as well as improved concept understanding. He seems to be confident going into his upcoming final exam.

We talked about polynomial functions, finding zeroes, and end behavior. The student has far more than enough material available to practice with, although I will continue taking note of how much she has available and supply more, if necessary. Her course work often requires the use of a graphing calculator, and I have directed her to some online resources as well. Despite all of this we are definitely making good progress.

The first chapter of Pre-Calculus. Graphing and inequalities. The student seemed to be well informed on how to do most of his work. He did mention that he will work on his next homework assignment by himself and will circle the ones he has trouble with.

This was the first session with the student. He will be taking the math and science sections of the assessment test in early September and would like help with these subjects. He provided me with examples of test questions and a list of specific areas of concentration. We went over some of the questions. We will focus on modeling concepts into abstract forms, such as equations or graphs.
