If you are a parent looking for a ERB (Educational Records Bureau) course containing services and support to help your student achieve success on the assessment, than look no further than Varsity Tutors. The ERB has been used as a general term for highly regarded admission assessments for students applying to independent schools or specialized public schools that require entrance exams. The students taking these assessments range in age from pre-kindergarten up to grade 12 and can be found internationally, as well as in the United States. ERB prep courses provide your student services, materials, and the one-on-one support that can help them feel confident on the assessment.
An ERB prep course can help your student in a multitude of ways. A course can help them develop study skills and test-taking strategies that may prove beneficial. ERB courses can help them create and work within time-management strategies, which can provide them with a real life feeling as to what the exam might feel like. An ERB prep class can connect your child with a tutor that has the ability to help your child assess which topics they may need a deeper level of understanding in and are able to provide the support they may desire. An ERB course can also help your child build study plans best suited to their ways of learning, as they can choose which sections or topics such as Vocabulary or Writing Mechanics, to focus more on.
The standardized assessment test, published by the ERB, has been created to help schools evaluate their academic standing comparative to others and for parents, along with schools, to assess an individual child's skills and abilities. The ERB contains seven sections that your child will be tested on. These sections will cover specific course content, which an ERB class can provide assistance with. Here are the sections that ERB classes will cover:
ERB Sections
- Auditory Comprehension
- Reading Comprehension
- Word Analysis
- Mathematics Achievement
- Writing Mechanics
- Verbal Reasoning
- Writing Concepts and Skills
- Quantitative Reasoning
- Vocabulary
- Algebra 1
A test section such as Math Achievement can be prepared for with in-depth focus and support provided by an ERB class. Having the knowledge to differentiate test topics like probability, geometry, and conceptual understanding can help your student achieve success on the exam.
As a whole, the test will consist of a variety of different topics listed within the seven sections listed previously. Here is a Reading Comprehension sample question so you can see what a topic might look like on the actual test:
ERB Sample Reading Question
- The following question is based off a previous paragraph shown to the candidate:
- Name the tricks that the sea lions did at the circus. Include at least three examples in your response.
- In order to receive a 2 (the highest score) on this question, the student must show a clear and solid understanding of the text to be able to extract at least three tricks sea lions did at the circus.
Your student will have no set time frame in which to study or learn within, rather, ERB class services and content will be available to them at a time best fitting into their schedule. Your student is able to study or review topics, such as number and operations, while also being able to utilize support services helping them understand and feel more confident on the day of the assessment.
Signing up for ERB classes can be quick and simple. Educational Directors are standing by online and by phone to help walk you through the sign up process for your student and to answer any questions regarding ERB prep courses or the services provided. Help your student prepare for the ERB assessment by signing them up for a ERB class today.

...range of experience as a tutor. Since my freshmen year in college, I have worked with students ranging from refugee children in middle school to full-time college students. I prefer tutoring students 1-on-1 because it allows me to devote all of my resources towards helping him/her. 1-on-1 tutoring also allows me to build a strong, personal relationship with my students. To me, this is important because it establishes a sense of trust and respect between...

In fact, I love the entire college application process because I think of it not as an opaque, mysterious world of judgment behind closed doors, but as the first opportunity in a student's life to find the perfect fit. The combination of test scores and personal statement should be seen as a contribution to a conversation that leads to a student...
