The student is taking a placement test for math tomorrow. He will be moving up into the middle/high school and the test is to assess his skill level. We worked on the chapter reviews in the back of his textbook. He wanted to go over scientific notation and stem/leaf plots. He was able to answer nearly all the questions we worked on. His main area to improve is reading carefully. He often knows the concept and how to solve the problem. Overall, he is a very bright and motivated student.

Today, we continued reviewing for the student's comprehensive algebra, final exam. The problems today focused on mean, median, and mode; calculation of perimeters, and areas of geometric figures consisting of circles, quadrilaterals, and triangles; and unit conversions. He was able to solve all of these problems with little to no help, and with exceptional skill. I doubt he will have difficulties with these problems on the exam. We then began reviewing physics, and only made it to kinematics. We discussed position, velocity, speed, and acceleration, as well as how to calculate all of these, given the information in a problem. We will pick up once more on acceleration next time, to make sure he understands this concept.

Reviewed for the student's upcoming test. We covered plotting points on a graph, labeling those plotted points and signed numbers: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We spent time covering the questions she got wrong on her last quiz, she received a 70 on the quiz. We then worked on practice problems with addition and subtraction of signed numbers to prepare for her next exam.

The students continued preparing for their math final. We briefly went over what we covered the previous session, which was from Chapter 1 through Chapter 5, then we studied Chapter 6 and Chapter 10. The class skipped Chapters 7, 8, and 9, so we only had two chapters to go over. However, Chapter 10 was quite a shift from the previous chapters as this chapter covered Geometry whereas the other chapters mainly focused on Algebra. I also asked them both to write down the equations on a piece of paper.

We worked on addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions. The student was confused at first but after multiple practice examples, the student picked up quickly and was able to complete many problems on her own. I did not leave the student with any extra practice but plan to moving forward.

Online 6th Grade Math Tutoring review by Sarah
The student is not covering any new material in his math class, so together we reviewed important things that he has covered this year. He did not feel confident about adding fractions, so we focused on that during this session. Once I reminded him how to find the least common multiple for the denominators, he was able to do the problems easily. We also reviewed adding mixed numbers, and converting between mixed numbers and fractions. We finished up by looking at finding the greatest common factor of numbers.
