Tutoring review by Luis in Woodstock, IL
Reviewed properties of light: superposition, interference, polarization, frequency, energy, and diffraction. Reviewed transmission of light through matter and the wave-particle duality of light. The student uses metaphors and analogies to relate concepts or to try to understand a new one. Sometimes, however, he relies too heavily on the analogy to explain properties or consequences of these new consequences. Since analogies are accurate up to a point, this leads to confusion on the student's part in trying to explain things.

Tutoring review by Sara in Woodstock, IL
The student & I worked ahead through material from the book and a homework set she has regarding the length of arcs of a circle and their relationship to their central angle and the radius of the circle. She still struggles with consistently approaching the problems with a strategy to apply the concept as well as showing her algebraic work in a clear reasoned fashion. I am going to write out more example problems for her in order for her to have an example of target understanding of the material. We also review any concepts she hasn't fully mastered that crop up as we do assigned problems.

We went over the main "ar/or" words that the student had to write three times. She is very creative! She did a great job writing a story using all of the assigned words, as a way to review them. We also discussed punctuation and capitalized letters. We did a little bit of addition and talked about simple multiplication. Finally, she did a great job reading a chapter of her book on hieroglyphs. She struggled with just a few words.

The student and I reviewed some of the major concepts from the beginning of his course up until now. Using his class book and online materials, we reviewed a host of topics such as sample size, proportions, normality criteria, normal distribution, z-scores, standard error, and confidence intervals. I boiled down the key concepts. He did well on his homework assignments.

Tutoring review by Ignacio in Woodstock, IL
We met last Thursday after a gap of few weeks. We started working on past tenses. We did a review of the present perfect tense, and then we started working on simple past. We worked on the 3 conjugations, using it in sentences, doing some 'fill-in-the-blanks' examples, etc. The last half hour we had a conversation in Spanish.

Tutoring review by Alison in Woodstock, IL
Completed two sections of his extra credit to help prepare for his upcoming test. The questions were pretty difficult and not like what he's been working on so it did take some extra guidance, but he seemed to understand pretty well overall. We will make sure to get the basics down to be able to complete these more difficult problems.
