Tutoring review by Erin in Skokie, IL
Today the student took the first part of the math practice test, timed, from the test prep book. We went over the test, going through each question she missed.  Then she took the second part of the math test, timed and went over those missed as well.  She struggled with the timing and a few concepts on the first section of the test, but did very well on the second section.  She takes her ISEE test tomorrow.

Reviewed student's recent exam-included base numbers, Mayan numerals, number lines, fractions, etc. Student had done ok on exam. She made mistakes mostly in understanding the wording of the problems and not being clear on what the problem was asking her to do. Once she understood the point of the question, she was able to do the math more effectively. We also worked through a take home quiz-she did well with fractions

We went over her math homework, which was on place values and understanding tens places as meaning a certain number of tens. Then we reviewed telling time with a worksheet I brought, and reviewed subtracting from two-digit numbers with a different worksheet. Finally, we read through a book she had picked out and learned some new vocabulary, and discussed how the characters felt about each other and the events that were happening in the book.

Tutoring review by Khrishen in Skokie, IL
For the tutoring session today ahead of his exam on Monday, I worked with the student on review problems his teacher had assigned involving finding the derivative of log, natural log and inverse log functions. He was able to break down the problems into simple, basic steps that allowed him to solve the questions comfortably. He definitely knows the concepts and if he applies this strategy and reviews all his work before submitting the test, I expect him to do really well.

Tutoring review by Gabriel in Skokie, IL
We reviewed a bit of math while waiting for the student's lab partner to send over the results from last term's bio report.  We began to compile the results and analyze the data for trends. At the end of the session I gave her homework to complete as much of the analysis as possible and begin writing the introduction and methods section.
