Illinois is famous for being a center for jazz and blues culture, and it is affectionately known as both the Land of Lincoln and The Prairie State.

Today, the student and I worked on studying for her anatomy exam. The material covered was about the muscle. She seemed unsure of the material at first, but after going over the slides, making diagrams, and looking up some YouTube videos, she seemed more confident.

Today, we polished the student's previous essays before talking about how to split our 1000-word essay into two essays, one 1000 words and one 500 words. We also discussed what additional content would need to be generated to flesh out both samples.

We continued going over topics of properties of gases in chemistry and started with trigonometry for math. The student was doing much better with the chemistry this time around, and we were able to work through his worksheet pretty quickly. As for math, it took a bit for him to remember certain elements of trig, such as the unit circle, but there weren't many difficulties to be had.

Tutoring review by Audrey in Illinois
On this session with the student, we reviewed for a test she will take tomorrow. She had to answer some questions orally. It makes her practice her pronunciation and conjugation. I gave her some advice on how to answer easily, like using the same words to complete her sentences. I could see that she has worked hard and that she felt confident with the grammar and how to conjugate verbs. We agreed that I will send her more exercises about "l'imparfait" for our next session.

Tutoring review by Sara in Illinois
The student was keen on speeding through our reading and workbook assignments, because he really wanted to play a game. One happy byproduct of this was that he read every English sentence presented to him with no opposition at all. We slowed down to correct his spelling errors in his workbook and still had time to play Doraemon vs. Mini-Doraemon Hangman. The second student got a perfect score on her spelling test; she seems to relish the challenge of spelling high-level English words. We spent a lot of time reading her library books ("Beyond the Pond" and "Over the River & Through the Woods"), largely because we both admired the illustrations so much. She started two new workbooks in class today as well. While it was clear that the Level 3 Spelling book was on par with what she had previously completed, I was pleased that she took the time to look over her new Level 1 Writing book. After clearing up the distinction between nouns and verbs, we completed two of the first pages together.
