Tutoring review by Ryan in Oak Lawn, IL
I tested the student on what she had studied over the past week.  She knew both the vocabulary words that I gave her and the stem-changing verb practice.  After this practice, I taught her how to conjugate irregular verbs.  We also talked about the differences between the uses of ser and estar and practice verbally.  We practiced questions such as: "Where are you/your friend?  What are you eating?  How are you?  What are you like?  etc.".  She did very well with the speaking practice.  We ended with a short bit of cultural information regarding Spain.

The student and I had our first session today. I quickly found his weakness in audibly discerning different vowel sounds, so we made a chart of the basic vowel sounds, came up with examples, and practiced reading those sounds in different words.

Tutoring review by Drew in Oak Lawn, IL
I started this session with the student by helping him with his homework.  His first assignment was an exercise in which he had to label certain items in a restaurant scene.  His second assignment was an exercise in which the student had to describe the heights and hair of various people.  We finished the session by making flashcards for his current chapter's vocabulary, and then practicing that vocabulary. He has shown excellent progress in learning the vocabulary words during our session.  While he did not internalize all of the words, by the end of our session he had memorized over 75% of the words.

I gave her a practice test of the quantitative part.  Then we went over how to find an average, how to divide with fractions, and how to change a percent to a decimal.  She still needs to work on timing, but is getting a bit faster as she works.
