Recent Hitchcock Tutoring Session Notes

Tutoring review by Hadiya in Hitchcock, TX
This was the last session with the student this year. We began with multiplying decimals. Then we worked on classifying quadrilaterals. He had to identify rhombi, parallelograms, and squares. Next, we worked on equivalent fractions. He did very well with this concept. Next, we worked on word problems with fractions. He is getting better at identifying key terms to determine which process should be used to solve the problem. We ended the session with playing a math game on the tablet. His father said he would like tutoring for his son again next school year and will be in contact.

Tutoring review by Paris in Hitchcock, TX
The student and I covered optics (lenses and mirrors), chemical thermodynamics, and the cardiovascular and the respiratory system during this session by completing passages in the test prep materials. Overall, she did well in most passages that we covered. She did surprisingly well in the optics passage given her lack of confidence in the topic in the beginning of our session, and I advised her to please complete the rest of the optics passages on the test prep site.

During this lesson we worked on related rates. The student isn't struggling too much with the material; he seems to be staying caught up and is receiving good grades (B on the last test!) but he'd like to get an A (good goal!). I think more practice will help so he can identify problems early and address them with me before the tests. He has a good attitude as usual!

Tutoring review by Katherine in Hitchcock, TX
Today the student and I reviewed her homework problems covering integrals and u-substitution. We reviewed methods covered in last week's session about solving integrals that have variables in the denominator and e^x. Once she gets warmed up with a few problems, she is able to integrate the concepts to other problems quickly.

Tutoring review by Benedetto in Hitchcock, TX
In our first session we covered integrals, using the power rule, the integration by substitution and the integration by parts. The student seemed familiar with most of the concepts, but I will make sure to test further her knowledge the next time we meet.

We followed the first part of the lesson plan compiled by the student's daughter, that is, an introduction to web-based email clients: 1. Receiving emails. 2. Sending and forwarding emails. 3. Sending to -- and carbon copying -- multiple recipients. 4. Deleting junk emails and salvaging emails from the trash folder. 5. Printing emails and attachments.
