Tutoring review by Jennifer in Webster, TX
Today we went over grammar topics together, including gerunds and infinitives, since the student had asked about these before. We then reviewed her homework, which was supposed to be grammar and math practice problems, but she had discovered the grammar sections were already completed so only did the math. I told her she definitely has the ability to do well on the math section, but she needs to focus and not give up. In the end, she was able to successfully complete all the problems.

Tutoring review by Sean in Webster, TX
The student and I continued to work on the SAT. In this session, we focused on the math section. We reviewed one section that she had previously completed for homework. She understands the concepts well, but she sometimes has trouble with some of the more difficult questions. I have started to incorporate GMAT questions (from the MBA admission test), which are more difficult and will help challenge her. I assigned her math homework, which we will review during our next session.

Tutoring review by Laura in Webster, TX
The student and I spent the majority of our session reviewing polynomial long division and having him finishing his homework. He is working on writing out each step of the problem and organizing his arithmetic carefully. I enjoyed working with him and look forward to the next session when we review English and Spanish.

Tutoring review by Dawn in Webster, TX
The student picks up advanced concepts and processes very well but I was noticing that problems involving fractions and negative numbers tended to give him trouble and many times he would not get the correct answer. This session was added to work on working with fractions (adding/ subtracting, multiplying/ dividing, complex) and negatives. He had never been shown some quick techniques to deal with fractions and negative numbers. He picked up the concepts quickly - even completed difficult rational expressions and equations by the end of the session. I left him some basic fraction problems to work with over the weekend. The more comfortable he is working basic problems will allow his confidence to rise to deal with more difficult precalculus problems which involve fractions.

Tutoring review by Jacqueline in Webster, TX
We worked on the student's problems, focusing on using sinusoids to model word problems. We talked about amplitude, period, horizontal shift, and vertical shift. We discussed how to prepare for similar problems on a test and how to pick out relevant information. In general, she had a pretty good grasp of the material.

In this session we began by the student working through her current homework on parametric equations. After she finished the homework problems, we recapped a few topics from last week, then proceeded to review the practice AP test they were administered in class.
