Tutoring review by Katherine in Edwardsville, KS
Today we worked on physics and pre-calculus. I introduced the concept of torque, and we talked about the rotational equivalents for different variables of motion (velocity/angular velocity, acceleration/angular acceleration, mass/inertia, etc.). He seemed pretty comfortable with this. For pre-calculus, we went over polar coordinates. I tried to compare it to the unit circle to make it a little easier for him, and I think this helped some.

Tutoring review by Clayton in Edwardsville, KS
The student worked on the his tenth grade research paper assignment. We focused on how to start a research paper by first finding a general topic, and then finding resources and information to make your topic more specific. He is definitely getting the hang of finding resources to cite in paper. He is quickly learning what makes one resource better than another and how to use it in an effective way to strengthen his argument and defend his stance.

The student and I continued to work on the Chinese children's story that we started last week. We reviewed the structure of the story that she had learned in class and at tutoring and made sure her story followed the structure. She put forth an excellent effort and was very responsive to feedback.

Tutoring review by Felicia in Edwardsville, KS
We started out by going over a fraction line, which is something the student learned in class but still did not grasp all the way. We then went over her math homework, which focused on fractions, mixed numbers, fractions greater than one, and fractions equal to one. We worked on this whole page until she completed it. I wanted to see how much she remembered about factors and multiples, so I gave her a review sheet of 12 problems about this concept. I gave her some time to work on the 12 problems. We then went over it as a review. She got all 12 problems correct. Good session today.

Tutoring review by Lawanda in Edwardsville, KS
At this session, we covered adding, subtracting, and multiplying decimals. We began by working on a few word problems in which he was to multiply decimals. Overall, he did very well and displays proficiency in adding and subtracting decimals. He did well in multiplying decimals, but he needs more practice with placing the decimal in the correct place once he solves the problem.
