During our session, we reviewed Section 7.1 from her textbook on sequences. She worked on homework problems but did have some trouble with writing rules for sequences. However, once she completed practice problems and I provided explanations, she was able to clear up any confusion she had. We then continued to review Section 7.2 on Arithmetic Sequences and Series. She completed homework assignments (in advance) from Sections 7.1 and 7.2. She did a great job understanding the problems and applying the rules from these sections!

Tutoring review by Valerie in De Soto, KS
I had the student discuss with me what the class worked on today. He explained they started on a new concept - laws of motion. He showed me the graphic organizer that he began in class to give the students definitions and information on the 3 Laws of Motion. I had him create note cards for the first two laws of motion. He wrote the definition on the front, circled key words, and placed an image, symbols, or keywords to help him remember the definition. We watched a video explaining the 1st and 2nd laws of motion.

The student has a midterm in Algebra 2, so we reviewed the practice test packet he had gotten from his teacher. The packet covered the entire section, consisting largely of absolute value inequalities, systems of equations, and solving for missing values. He had some difficulty with absolute value inequalities but taking the time to re-read the questions to see what needs to be solved really helped. We also discussed alternate methods to solve and graph systems of equations and inequalities, which would be useful in a test situation where notes are not readily available. Overall, he seemed well-prepared for the midterm, I think he will do really well on the test.

Tutoring review by Kimberly in De Soto, KS
I worked on math problems with the student. We worked on multiplying two and three digit numbers with and without decimals. She was doing great and was understanding the order of operations she needs to perform. She has also been working on ounces and pounds and so I gave her practice problems on converting from ounces to pounds and she did very well with that also. The last thing we did was go over some more times tables and I wrote down the facts she still needed to work on.
