By completing a thorough review of everything, we can help you make more reasonable answer choices as you take the MCAT. Signing up for a Philadelphia MCAT course can be a good way to enhance your medical knowledge. Also, you'll be able to conveniently take these courses online under the instruction of a qualified academic mentor. Varsity Tutors can provide you with sessions that can give you a better understanding of the layout of the test as well, along with strategies for each section that could help you maximize your potential on exam day.
Nearly all medical schools in the U.S. base admission on not only a strong application but good MCAT scores as well. The test is used as a gauge of how you could be successful in your medical school education. Students should be aware of their strengths and weaknesses in different subjects for better preparedness. Your MCAT score is one of the factors to be considered for admission to local medical schools such as Drexel University College of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, or Temple University School of Medicine.
What could a Philadelphia MCAT course help me review?
This test is standardized and computer-based. You'll answer multiple-choice questions on all four sections of the exam. The basis of the score consists of five parts. This includes a score from each section of the test, and the final score is tallied from a combination of each section. Each section has a score range of 118-132. The final total can be between 472-528.
Within the MCAT, there are some experimental questions in each section that don't affect your final score. You have four sections to focus on, namely Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems, Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills, Biological and Biochemical Foundation of Living Systems, and Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior. In the sections, you'll answer some passage-based and independent questions. The total testing time is 6 hours and 15 minutes, but the seated testing time is 7.5 hours. Here's more detail of each section of the MCAT.
You'll have 95 minutes to complete 59 questions on the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological System section. Students will have 10 passage-based sets of questions along with 15 independent questions. On this area of the test, students will be tested in subjects like general chemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry, introductory physics, introductory biology, and basic biochemistry. They should also be aware of chemical reactions, elements of the periodic table, and the functions of human tissues.
Next, students will have 90 minutes to complete the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills. They'll have to answer 53 questions, which feature 9 passage-based sets of questions. Students should focus on their English proficiency when it comes to the verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, and analytical skills required in this section. Also, students should be skilled in abilities like applying ideas from the passage to new contexts and how new information can impact the passage.
The next section is Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems. You'll have 95 minutes to answer 59 questions, which feature 10 passage-based sets of questions and 15 independent questions. Students should prepare for this section of the MCAT by reviewing the processes of living organisms, basic biological and biochemical concepts, and scientific inquiry. For this part of the MCAT, it can be helpful to study how cells and organs act independently and how organisms respond and adapt to the environment.
Lastly, you'll take the Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior section of the test. You have 95 minutes to complete 59 questions. Some of the material you'll answer include 10 passage-based sets of questions and 15 independent questions. Students should be knowledgeable of subject matter in biology, introductory psychology, and introductory sociology before taking this portion of the MCAT. Also, students should review concepts like the influence of cultural and social differences on the medical industry, how people perceive themselves and others, and behavioral changes in people.
How does a Philadelphia MCAT prep course help me prepare?
One of the best features of working online is the ability to learn from an expert MCAT instructor while having the opportunity to share ideas with and gain insight from peers from all over who are also preparing to take the exam. Getting input from an instructor and peers can help make the class more interactive. Additionally, this will help students understand different perspectives. This can assist them in getting more from the review sessions. Additionally, students have the advantage of working from home for a more comfortable and convenient experience. Students should decide if two-week or four-week sessions are better for their learning needs.
After enrolling in the class, you can begin strengthening your overall skill level in different subjects. If you have trouble with specific areas, you can ask your instructor for a private session to get a better grasp of the material on the MCAT. They could help you develop strategies for critical reasoning by showing you how to pick out the main idea of a passage, for example.

I'm a pre-health student at the University of Pennsylvania, and have an extensive background in the sciences. I can also rock the SATs and MCAT, so I've got that going for me. I love learning with students and trying to make the tedious work of learning as fun as possible. I think and teach in examples and make abstract concepts easily understandable. I also love sports, adventures, travelling!... My teaching philosophy is to teach in a way that makes materials understandable, accessible, and applicable to the real world!

...to a science student, I feel passionately that the sciences can be learned by any student, even those for whom it might feel a little more challenging. Working as a tutor for biology, organic chemistry, general chemistry, and neuroscience, I actively implemented this philosophy, finding creative ways to approach complex concepts.
