Proven Handwriting Help For All Levels

Handwriting is becoming a bit of a lost art thanks to the advent of computers and mobile devices. That being said, it's still important for your student to learn how to write by hand.

Doing so is one of the most effective ways for young students to learn the alphabet and improve their reading skills. A handwriting tutor can meet your student where they are. They can create a customized lesson plan for them that covers every letter in the alphabet. Your student can learn how to space letters and words properly, how to form complete sentences, and much more. They'll even be able to work through each lesson at their own pace.

Improve Grades and Test Scores In Handwriting

If your student has a handwriting exam approaching, working with a private instructor can help them prepare for it. Their educator can create a customized test preparation plan that helps your student in the areas they need it most.

Not only will they get better at handwriting, but they may also earn themselves better scores. A handwriting tutor may even be able to give your student some general test-taking tips they can use now and in the future. For instance, they might show your student how to manage their time more effectively or how to approach challenging multiple-choice questions.

How much does a handwriting tutor cost?

The cost of meeting with a handwriting tutor will depend on how you'd like your student to be helped. With Varsity Tutors, you'll have many different tutoring options to choose from.

Factors like how often you want your student to meet with their educator and how long you'd like the sessions to be can influence your charges. That being said, we work hard to help families of all budgets connect their students with skilled tutors. If you think yours would benefit from handwriting tutoring, get in touch with us. We'll happily help you find an option that works for your budget.

How does online handwriting tutoring work?

Handwriting tutoring that takes place online has become very similar to learning opportunities that happen in-person. Your student will meet with their instructor on our Live Learning Platform.

Here, they can utilize live video chat and interact with their educator through tools like a virtual whiteboard and a shared document editor. Your student's tutor can guide them through the webcam and your student can show your educator their work as they go. This enables your student to continue making progress towards their handwriting goals from the comfort of home. All lessons are also recorded so you can go back to watch them on-demand whenever you want.

Are handwriting tutors worth it?

Your student can absolutely benefit from working with a handwriting tutor. A private instructor can help them with the specific parts of handwriting your student wants to improve in.

Regardless of your student's existing handwriting skills, a tutor can help them unlock more of their potential. When you're ready to get started with the tutoring process, contacting Varsity Tutors is the best way to do it. We'll help you find an instructor who is a good fit for both you and your student's scheduling needs.

How can Handwriting tutoring help you succeed?

As the modern world becomes increasingly reliant on computing and smartphones, the art of handwriting seems to be disappearing. Many students now learn to type with much more skill than they have when writing with pen and paper. However, no matter how much these things change with technology, there will continue to be many environments in which good handwriting is necessary for interpersonal communication. Whether you are the parent of a child who is just learning to write in print or cursive script, or an adult with less-than-perfect handwriting, you should consider contacting Varsity Tutors about personal, professional handwriting tutoring today.

For the young student learning to write, it is often difficult to coordinate the more passive ability to read a language with the active work of writing in it. While it is necessary to teach all of the grammar and syntax needed in writing, it is likewise necessary to practice the techniques that make for flowing and legible penmanship. Both in print and cursive writing, careful muscle memory techniques should be developed in order to form long-lasting habits that can benefit your child for the rest of his or her life. Instead of letting him or her develop bad habits early on, provide them with a patient and trained handwriting tutor who can help them work through the exercises necessary for achieving beautiful handwriting today.

When we first sat down, the student asked me to look over the work she had done so far on her practice test. I determined that she has a strong grasp of how to perform operations since everything she had done on the problems I checked was correct; however, several problems were not complete. She knows HOW to do things; she just was unclear in some cases about WHAT to do. We then examined simplifying rational expressions, solving rational equations, and graphing rational functions. Over the course of the hour, she came to realize which steps were missing. I believe she is prepared for her test.

The student had his big project on a "tale" to work on.  He had picked a book from the library on the legend of Hannuman.  We picked up reading the book from where he left off the day before with his other tutor.  After we read, we talked through the different parts of the project he had to do, and I had him work on the majority of the writing that had to happen: writing the title, the author's name, a summary, etc.  This took just about all our time, and the other tutor was coming the next afternoon to help work on this assignment as well, so we stopped after getting the summary done.  The student did great work even though we went a little over time and it was challenging for him!

I met with the student today to go over the review for her final that she has on Friday. The material focused on different concepts of mechanical physics - forces, velocity, acceleration, friction, vectors, and springs. The student had a good understanding of the concepts, and was able to draw the diagrams for the question well. She just needed some help applying the proper formula to the right situation.

The student and I continued doing problems from all sections of the ISEE. He is doing really well. We focused particularly on basic algebra, graphing polygons in the coordinate plane, and the distributive property. He is very quick to pick up new concepts. For our next session, he is going to do an essay prompt to see where he is in his writing.

The student has a test this week in Biology on the history of Earth. We read through some of the chapters discussing how scientists are able to determine when certain organisms were present on Earth, the Eras and periods of Earth's history and what things happened in each. She will need to review this information again prior to her test and plans to make flashcards with definitions.
