We finished up the reading section by looking at two more sample passages, both of which the student was able to address without issue. Next time we look at this section should be our post-test. We then returned to our assessment test vocab words; I introduced the student to a word web vocab exercise and was excited to see her respond so well to it. Will make more use of this method in our next session.

Tutoring review by David in West Chester, PA
The student and I worked on precalculus. We compared and contrasted the sine and cosine functions and their roles in the unit circle, in right triangles, and in different quadrants of the unit circle. We correlated the graphs of sine and cosine with their values, as a way of (approximately) checking work. We took several approaches to determining the value of sine and cosine functions in different quadrants of the circle, including reference angles, and angle addition and subtraction identities. We used the addition and subtraction identities to derive most of the other approaches to sine and cosine functions around the unit circle. We noted that triangles' axes, when oriented in the unit circle, take on positive and negative values, as appropriate, according to the mnemonic "All Students Take Calculus."
