Tutoring review by Matthew in Bridgeport, PA
The student and I worked together on his homework for the new unit he started this week. We covered the Pythagorean Theorem, special Pythagorean triples, and ratios/similar triangles. We also reviewed radicals and putting answers in simplest radical form. In addition, we went over how to determine whether a triangle is acute, right, or obtuse given the side lengths. The student was able to grasp all material easily.

Tutoring review by Christopher in Bridgeport, PA
During our time together, the student and I worked on finding the common denominator between fractions, whereby we can properly compare fractions (aka put them in order from largest to smallest, and vice versa). To effectively relay the material, I provided him with a step by step approach to solving these problems, which appeared to really help the material stick for him. As always, he was very enthusiastic about the material and was an absolute pleasure to work with. I look forward to meeting with him again next Wednesday!

Tutoring review by Julia in Bridgeport, PA
Continuing work in the K12 course, the student completed Lessons 3, 5 and 6. Lesson 4 was optional and was not done. Lesson 3 - Constructions used interactive graphics to manipulate lines and construct a line bisector, an equilateral triangle and a hexagon. He scored 66% on the Skills Update quiz (one wrong answer out of 3 questions) where he was able to find interquartile range of a box and whisker plot. The Checkpoint quiz score was 80% for understanding bisectors, the characteristics of a square, and constructing an equilateral triangle. He noticed where extra (not needed) information was included in the problem. Lesson 5 Translation included a Skills Update quiz for finding points on the number line, and on the (x, y) plane (grade was 100%). The lesson showed that a translation is a slide with no rotating or change in size, etc. He had trouble at first to see the translations. Then he quickly improved in comprehension and used the strategy of finding non-examples. He traced where new coordinates are in the (x, y) plane after the translation. The advanced concept vector proved challenging, where the translation (vector) is a diagonal line. The translation is resolved into its x and y changes. He understood this. He scored 100% on the Lesson 5 Checkpoint quiz. Lesson 6 - Reflection is about moving a shape by flipping it over a line (like folding paper or looking in a mirror). He visualized these changes quite well. He scored a 100% on the Skills Update covering practice with the (x, y) plane and a 60% on the Checkpoint. He has a positive attitude and enjoys learning the concepts and connections. He has gained so many skills since we started, he sometimes surpasses me in accuracy and speed.

Student 1 and Student 2 are doing better in math class and scoring better on their quizzes and tests. We worked on their homework assignments, which covered graphing shapes and moving them around the graphs. They were doing okay with the concepts, but as the session went on they were becoming more comfortable with the material.

Tutoring review by Cedric in Bridgeport, PA
We completed a review of secant and tangent lines of a circle for measurements of the lengths. We also reviewed area of a sector, area of a triangle, and area of a segment. In addition, we did word problem break downs to reflect the diagram of a circle with a tangent, secant lines, or chords. We also completed test corrections of triangle postulates of solving for indicated variables and measurements. The student was tasked to complete online test prep for review at next session to prepare for the final exam.

Tutoring review by Cara in Bridgeport, PA
Today, we went over the study guide for the upcoming test. The student has continued to improve with her understanding of the subject matter. When I ask her about certain definitions, she answers the question confidently and provides examples. She is also confident in performing questions on Punnett squares and test crosses. We went over material that hasn't been taught in class yet like sex linked trait crosses. This part of the session was a prelude to what she will be taught tomorrow. I feel confident she will do well on the test on Friday.
