What can Tulsa SAT prep cover?

The SAT exam will have three mandatory sections. These sections consist of Writing and Language, Reading, and Math. The SAT also has a fourth section. This section is optional. This will be the Essay portion of the test. The SAT will start between 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM and will end anywhere from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM depending on your start time and if you opt in for the Essay portion of the exam. During the exam, you will have one 10-minute break and one 5-minute break. Now, we will discuss in further detail of what you can expect during the exam.

For the Writing and Language section, you will have 35 minutes to answer 44 questions. In this section, all questions will be multiple-choice. You will have a few different written passages to read and answer the questions following the passages. This section will be testing you on standard English conventions, command of evidence, words in context, and expression of ideas.

For the Math section, you will have 80 minutes to answer 58 questions. The Math section is broken into two sections. In one section, you will be allowed to use a calculator and the in the other section you will not. The section in which you are allowed to use the calculator will be 38 questions long. You will have 55 minutes to finish the section. The section you are not allowed to use a calculator in will have 20 questions and you will have 25 minutes to finish the section.

For the Reading section, you will have 65 minutes to answer 52 questions. You will be reading a couple of passages. These passages can come from contemporary US literature, classic US literature, world literature, Earth science, the United States founding documents, physics, chemistry, and biology. This section is testing your knowledge of the words in context, analysis in history/social studies in science, and command of evidence.

As we've previously talked about, the SAT Essay section is optional. If you choose to take the Essay section, you will have 50 minutes to do so. This section is designed for you to read a passage and consider the author's evidence, reasoning, and persuasive elements. When done, it is your job to write an essay where you decipher the author's arguments and persuasive abilities. To give it your all, you will need to brush up on your writing skills, reading comprehensions, and your analysis.
