What can New York City SAT prep cover?
There are three main sections in the SAT; Math, Writing and Language, and Reading. You can also choose to take the SAT Essay, which will evaluate your writing skills. The three core portions of the SAT are all multiple-choice. You will have a total of three hours to finish these sections. If you add the Essay section of the SAT, you have an additional 50 minutes to complete it.
For the Math portion of the SAT, you will be given 80 minutes to complete 58 multiple choice questions. There are two portions of this section of the exam. In one part of the Math section, you will not be allowed to use a calculator. On this part of the test, you will have 25 minutes to complete 15 multiple-choice questions. On the calculator section, you will have 55 minutes to complete 30 multiple-choice questions. Some portions of the math section of the SAT include multiple questions about a single scenario.
In the Writing and Language portion of the SAT, you will have 35 minutes to complete 44 multiple-choice questions. All of the questions will be derived from written passages. Some of the concepts evaluated in this section of the test include using words in context, analyzing historical and scientific data, and a command of standard English conventions such as sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, punctuation, verb tense, vocabulary, and appropriate comma use.
In the Reading portion of the SAT, you will have 65 minutes to answer 52 multiple-choice questions. Some of the things you may want to review as part of your SAT preparation efforts include identifying relationships between text and accompanying data, understanding the different ways authors present their arguments, general reading comprehension skills, and finding evidence within passages to support answers.
In the SAT Essay section, you will have 15 minutes to answer a single question. You will read a passage and then consider the author's argument. You will complete an essay in which you evaluate the author's argument and persuasive abilities. You will need to cite one or more pieces of supporting evidence from the reading passage in your response. It is important to know that your essay is not supposed to defend whether you do or do not agree with the author's claim, but rather it is intended to provide a platform in which you can assess the validity of the author's argument. A variety of skills are required to complete the Essay section of the SAT successfully. Professional New York City SAT preparation can help you work on refining your writing skills.
What are the benefits of taking a New York City SAT prep class?
When you register for an online SAT prep class, you will receive all of the benefits of working in a typical classroom environment. Your instructor will deliver the curriculum to the class as a whole. They may then encourage group discussion or facilitate class projects. One of the wonderful things about working in a classroom environment is the support of other students. When your classmates ask questions, it can lead to new insights for you. If you find that you also have questions, you are always free to ask the instructor for assistance.
All of the classes are comprised of individual sections. New sections start each week to make getting in on SAT prep quick and easy. You can choose between two week and four-week class options. By offering classes of varying lengths, we try to ensure you have the amount of support you need to work towards your academic goals within a timeframe that best fits your learning needs.
How is working with a New York City SAT tutor different from taking a course?
The most significant difference between working with a private tutor and taking a New York City SAT prep course is the personalized instruction you receive with your private instructor. As you work with your tutor, they will learn more about your personality, learning style, and academic needs. They can use this information to create your personalized course materials. Each session can focus on topics that are most relevant for your learning needs. In a classroom setting the teacher is restricted to providing the information in a predetermined format. While this is an effective way to review the most amount of content, it is not the most efficient way to receive targeted assistance.
Another key difference between working with a private instructor and taking a course is the freedom of creating your own schedule. While a course has a predetermined schedule, your private tutoring can occur when it is most convenient for you. You can choose to schedule sessions with your instructor during the day or evening throughout the week and on weekends.

...understand the techniques behind the solutions to their problems. In particular, this means that my tutoring style is very student-involved: I will always begin a problem by asking the student where they think they should start, or what progress they have made on the problem. I find that the student misses a significant part of the tutoring experience if they are not the primary force behind solving the problems they bring to me, and as...

If you choose me to be your tutor then you will definitely ace your test. I'm a great math tutor because I understand the material thoroughly, am patient, and know how to explain things. I attended Stuyvesant High School and the University of Chicago; I am currently studying Data Science with Johns Hopkins.... If you don't get it then I'm explaining it wrong.... Before the first session, I'd have them do a bunch of practice problems on the subject they want to be tutored in, and I'd look over their answers to see what they need help with. I'd also ask them which problems they guessed on or weren't totally sure of. We could start from there.

In the span of five weeks, I enjoyed a whirlwind introduction to the language (with daily class) and life in both heavily developed and poorer, migrant worker regions of the city. I have been a tutor for six years, and have tutored all ages. I specialize in the college admission process, and especially like working with students on admissions essays and test prep. I graduated from the University of Notre Dame two years ago with a degree in television and anthropology. I work at MTV during the weekday, but am free weekends and weeknights after 7:00 pm.... I think a good tutor allows the student to learn what they already know before trying to teach them anything new. I love working with students on their writing. I also love sharing the tricks and tips I learned during my own time as a student.
