No toy was safe in my hands. As a child, I always took my toys apart to see their inner components and how they produced sound or light. Most survived the reassembly stage, while others were mourned by my mother's pocketbook. When I was in the fifth grade, my mother gave me my first toolkit. To say the least, I took apart everything in the house that could be disassembled with a screwdriver. Along with deconstructing anything that gained my interest, I also enjoyed crafting things.I associate these childhood curiosities with my current interests as I find myself wondering how natural phenomena occur and daydreaming about inventions. Studying the interactions between humans and technology have been in my interests for most of my high school and college career. My short-term goal is to explore different focuses so that I can develop an understanding of my personal interests in the field of physics. My long-term goal is to use my passion for sharing knowledge as an educator and to help others find what peaks their curiosities.
You can learn so much about a person by examining what he or she reads. My favorite book is entitled, "Mindset" by Carol S. Dweck and it is unequivocally phenomenal. In order to provide you with a brief synopsis, I will simply say that it addresses two different mindsets, one is a "fixed" mindset and the other is a "growth" mindset. As a tutor, I am a firm believer in the "growth" mindset because I know that a person can increase their achievement, in virtually any arena, if he or she decides to put more effort towards growth in that particular arena. As a tutor, I will encourage each and every student to carefully examine what he or she thinks and says in regards to his or her ability in that area. I will share stories of people who are famous for their accomplishments, not because they are exceptionally gifted, but because they chose to invest the time to work towards growth and excellence. That, I believe, makes success attainable for everyone.

I recently graduated with a Masters of Science Degree in Neuroscience from Tulane University and I have a Bachelor of Science Degree from Spelman College in Biochemistry. I tutored several math and science classes while attending undergrad and worked as a Chemistry Teaching Assistant. While in graduate school, in addition to being a research assistant, I was a teaching assistant for three years in several science course (including neuroscience, biochemistry, and psychology). I specialize in tutoring math courses leading up to Calculus II and many biological science courses. I believe every student can learn complex material, just sometimes needs it explained and broken down in a different way that meets the students need of understanding, which is where I come in to help. I oftentimes think differently due to having a scientific background. Therefore I have had to formulate different ways of viewing similar material which has equipped me with the ability to teach the same material in multiple ways with several teaching styles that is geared towards those I tutor.
