I attended the University of Pennsylvania for undergrad where I studied English and took many STEM courses (chemistry, organic chemistry, statistics, calculus, advanced biology) as a part of my liberal arts education. I have also taken classes at Hunter College post-grad. I went to Poly Prep Country Day School for high school. I enjoy trying new recipes and new workouts as hobbies. I was born and raised in Brooklyn.

Having taught in a variety of settings and worked with diverse populations such as incarcerated inmates, international adults and ivy league undergraduates, I have come to understand first hand that every student learns in his or her own unique way. My approach as a tutor is to listen carefully to the student and to try and understand where he or she is coming from. It is through this student-centered learning that I encourage the student to express themselves and to find meaning in the work. My background in English writing and education, and first hand as an undergraduate professor of Critical Writing, allows me to push my students to work hard on the subject at hand. I believe that all students are capable of writing well and performing well on the SAT, and my job is to coach and steer the student in the right direction.

I am a current student at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in English and minoring in journalism and art history. I am very passionate about literature, writing and history, and I love sharing my knowledge and learning new things. My favorite subjects to tutor are Reading, Writing and History because I find that students can often find a great deal of personal meaning in these subjects which is very rewarding. I have over 14 years of educational experience. I began my career as a youth counselor helping to cultivate workforce development and recreational programming for the Buffalo Urban League in Buffalo, New York. In that work I recognized that my passion was grounded in providing quality learning opportunities for at-risk students.
