I have mostly worked in the public (Ministry of Education of Peru = U.S. Department of Education) and private sectors (research centers and private university, Pontifical Catholic University of Peru - PUCP). I have been involved in the areas of educational administration, strategic planning, project management and evaluation, leadership and academic culture research, and teaching undergraduates.I have also worked and volunteered in nonprofit organizations with youth and adults in Peru and in the United States. My work has been related to leading educational programs, writing curricula and facilitating workshops such as social skills for the workplace, community organizing, parenting skills to enhance children's academic performance, and basic education skills.I received a B.A. in Psychology from PUCP. In addition, I hold diplomas in Gender Studies, and Human Resources. As a LASPAU-Fulbright scholar, I obtained her M.Ed. in Organizational Leadership from Vanderbilt University.

I am most happy when I am actively learning, sharing, and growing with others.My favorite job I have had, and the one I was probably best at, was another teaching/mentorship role as camp counselor for 4 summers. I worked with all ages from 8 to 15 but mostly got to know campers ages 12 to 14.I graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Science in Human and Organizational Development in 2017. Most of my assignments during my undergraduate experience were essay- or presentation-based, but I also have taken math classes up through multivariable calculus.I have taken the ACT, SAT, PSAT, and GMAT multiple times and have a firm grasp on those tests.I like to teach in the exact same way I learn, by getting to the root of an idea, problem, etc. If you memorize a formula or a grammatical rule, you can remember it for the test, but you'll forget it a week later. If you learn why that formula or that rule exists and why it works, you'll retain that information for far longer and can rediscover and recall it much more successfully down the line.Academics aside, I love to tell jokes, write funny poetry, play chess, go skiing and hiking, and swing dance.

I am a former teacher of Spanish for grades 7 through 12, including Advanced Placement classes, as well as an in-house language instructor, translator, and interpreter for a large engineering company. I am a magna cum laude graduate of Vanderbilt University with a major in Spanish, and I've done graduate coursework in translation/interpretation at Georgia State University. My work history also includes 40+ years in the fields of international education and international development. I have lived in Spain, Mexico and Guatemala. My schedule is quite flexible as I am recently retired. How does a native English speaker end up teaching Spanish and loving other languages and linguistics in general? It all stems from the influence of the person who initially piqued my interest -- my 9th-grade Spanish teacher! I try to bring not only those same teaching skills but also -- and even more importantly -- that same contagion and excitement for learning Spanish to my tutoring.

During my time in graduate school, I taught university level general chemistry and analytical chemistry courses and laboratories and have helped hundreds of students understand and apply a wide range of concepts and tools to better understand both practical and theoretical problems in and outside of the laboratory. The key is to build off of what you know and work in steps to understand each problem and how to solve it. I think being able to relate a problem back to what you already know is the best way to understand difficult concepts or problems, and I will use that along with the knowledge and skills I've gained over the ten plus years I have been studying chemistry to help you in any way I can. In my free time I enjoy playing video games, board games, watching college football, NFL football, anime, manga, and sci fi.

I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Biology and Vanderbilt University with my M.D. and a Ph.D. in Pharmacology. After that, I completed a residency in pathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and became board certified in anatomical and clinical pathology. For the next seven years, I did post-doctoral research at Vanderbilt University. While I enjoy research immensely, I also love to teach! For the last seven years, I have taught AP biology, honors biology, college preparatory biology, as well as anatomy & physiology, AP psychology, and ACT science prep. At the college level, I have taught anatomy & physiology and pathophysiology to nursing students.One of my very favorite things to do when I teach or tutor is to bring real-world meaning to whatever topic is being studied.
