I am focused on improving fundamental study skills through a practical, hands-on approach. This includes imbedding real-world applications into every lesson to inspire students and spark their latent curiosity. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard in 2018 and currently live in Los Angeles, CA.

I am a graduate of Southern Methodist University. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Studies, with a focus on acting and directing. Since beginning high school, I have spent much of my extracurricular and summer time tutoring, mentoring, and counseling students elementary though high school age. While a tutor a fair amount of subjects, I sincerely enjoy exploring English, Literature, and French. I love the English and Literatue because both subjects connect deeply to my love for theatre, and I love French because I have lived in France twice; once when I was 7 in Paris, and again when I was 16 in the Nord Pas-de-Calais region. I would say my teaching style depends directly on the student, but generally, I love acting like I'm a student too and find fun ways to address the issues they're facing in practical ways. I always try to get my students to appreciate the skills they develop by showing them how they're useful in everyday life. When I'm not tutoring, I enjoy trying new restaurants, going for a swim, practicing my singing, and going to acting class.

I am a student at the University of Southern California, pursuing my Master's Degree in Geographical Information Science and Technology (GIST). I received a my Bachelor's Degree in Earth Sciences from USC in May of 2015. Education has always been an important part of my life and I love learning new things and helping others learn. I am passionate about the subjects that I tutor and I enjoy passing my enthusiasm for learning on to my students. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, hiking, camping, being outdoors, traveling, and doing yoga. My future goals include completing my graduate degree by August 2016 and becoming a GIS Analyst working in the environmental field.

I am originally from Augusta, Georgia and did my undergraduate studies at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. I waited tables through college there and majored in accounting. I am currently a graduate student at the Leventhal school of accounting at USC. I enjoy guitar, reading, and fitness.

I am a graduate of Clark University where I received my B.A in Physics and Mathematics. I grew up going between Los Angeles and Paris, always in a French school so I quickly became bilingual.

I am an actor, writer, and composer, with degrees in Theatre and English from Northwestern University. I have been passionate about literature and writing for as long as I can remember, and I use that passion to make critical reading, comprehension, and testing much easier and less daunting. I tutor English, Writing, and SAT Prep for Critical Reading and Writing. One of the things that make me stand out as a teacher is that I remember well what it's like to struggle in a subject. I was not good at math or science, so I understand what it is like to have difficulty grasping concepts. I can easily see how a student learns, and explain the concept in a manner in which the student can understand. Outside of teaching, I act in plays, write films, and I am currently composing a musical.

I am a student at UCLA entering my junior year. I am majoring in English, and I hope to pursue a career in law after schooling. I have experience in journalism and editing, so I am here to help students who need guidance with the structure and grammar of their writing. I can tutor anything from elementary school English to lower division college courses, and am willing to help in every way that I can!

I am a recent graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts where I received my B.F.A. in Drama with a minor in Applied Theatre. During my time at NYU, I studied at the Atlantic Acting School and the Experimental Theatre Wing, sang in a choir called Drama Cantorum, and co-founded a nationally-ranked improv team called Captain Soldier. I also spent an unforgettable semester abroad at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Nowadays, I work with a theatre company called Grey Room NYC and a non-profit organization called Leave Out Violence. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing and watching basketball (Go Bulls!), enjoying funny television shows (Louie is my favorite), and playing music (guitar & piano).

I am currently a student at Occidental College, earning my B.A. in American Studies. I have tutored and taught students for the past five years in a variety of subjects in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Melbourne, Australia. I currently tutor in SAT writing and verbal preparation, essay writing skills, English, and Literature. My favorite subjects to tutor are definitely those that involve writing, because they provide fantastic opportunities for students to express their creativity. One of my major goals in tutoring is to help students find a passion for learning the material they are presented with. In my free time I love attending comedy shows, playing volleyball at the beach, and finding new restaurants to eat at with friends.

I am currently attending UCLA School of Dentistry. I have spent a big chunk of my life tutoring. I had 600 hours of volunteer experience tutoring 5th graders in language. I also was the Tutoring Head of the Science National Honor Society in high school and spent every week tutoring high school level biology and chemistry. I spent one summer working at Kumon tutoring children in basic math and reading. In college, I spent two years tutoring adults to pass their GED. I was also an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant (UTA) for a development and physiology biology class, as well as a Peer Tutor for other intro level biology classes. I am a high honors, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of University of California, Santa Barbara. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature with a minor in French. During my time there, I studied abroad for a semester in Paris at the Sorbonne and the Paris Center for Critical Studies. I received the Certificate of Undergraduate Excellence in French and the Distinction in the Major award for my honors undergraduate research thesis in Comparative Literature, which was on the dynamics and representations of female transgression in the "stepwomen" of folk and fairy tales. I worked as a Writing tutor at U.C.S.B., first tutoring English to ESL foreign exchange students at the university, and then went on to work on basic study skills, writing, and essay planning and writing with undergraduates from all majors and disciplines, while also advising a few PhD candidates on their thesis writing. Since graduation, I have held multiple writing and editing positions, including my positions as Deputy Fiction Editor at the Los Angeles Review of Books and Associate Editor at Phoneme Media, a Los Angeles-based world literature and translation publisher.

I'm Katrina--a recent transplant to LA and also a recent grad of Yale University! Reading and writing have been integral to my life over the past few years as a Film and Media Studies and Sociology double major. I believe that crafting text can be a fun hobby and a very useful skill. Yet, it can often be challenging. I know what it is like to need help with schoolwork, and I know what it is like to provide that help for others. I believe that with patience and effort, we can solve any problem!
