I grew up in a family of educators and have always been passionate about the pursuit of learning. My teaching philosophy can be summarized with control. I like for the student to have holistic control over the material themselves rather than feel any inferior knowledge to me as the tutor or to their teachers. The most immediate way that I have found to access that control is for the student to conclude their own answer without fear of right or wrong. I believe that if the student discovers a pathway to the answer, even if the answer is initially wrong (in which case, of course, we would go through the problem together and search for where the student might have gone wrong), that s/he can walk into the class or test knowing that s/he is capable of finding answers. In my experience, the most frightening subject is that which one feels they have no knowledge past the question. As a musical theater actor, I am obviously interested in singing and dancing as well. In high school, along with theater, I also swam and ran track; and as a child I was a competitive gymnast and still do some tumbling. I am currently a rising Junior at Northwestern University studying Electrical and Computer Engineering. In my studies I am focusing on Robotics and Control Systems (think developing robots like Boston Dynamics or designing algorithms that allow rockets to land on their own like SpaceX.) I also am a member of Northwestern's solar car racing team, NUSolar, and I am the academic chair for the Tau Delta chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. In my experiences as a student I have realized how important it is to have individuals that are able to help as you progress through school, especially when you are struggling. To this end I want to be a great academic resource for students and help them solidly the concepts which will help them succeed in their academic endeavors and beyond.

I am a recent graduate of Northwestern University with a degree in Political Science and Film/Television. Growing up in New York City, I attended The Allen Stevenson School and Columbia Preparatory School before heading to Chicago for college. I excelled academically in my undergraduate career particularly in the humanities and communication sciences. The root of my passion for tutoring is simple: I love working with others to tackle challenges and have deep-rooted passion for academics.There is no "right way to learn;" rather, everyone learns in a manner that is best for them. My ability to hone in on and adapt to an individual's unique learning style makes me a skilled communicator and educator. I firmly believe that establishing a strong personal connection and friendly relationship are essential for success in teaching and motivating students. I have helped students write their college and graduate school essays, become stronger and more confident readers, and develop strong analytical writing skills.The Humanities are my area of proficiency: English, Literature, Analysis, Public Speaking, Writing, Government/Politics, both SAT and ACT Reading and English, SAT Writing, and ACT Science.I want to ensure that every lesson proves valuable and thus never charge if a student or parent is not entirely satisfied. I am a recent graduate from a masters program in biostatistics at Columbia University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences, with a focus in neurobiology at Northwestern University. In August, I will be starting a doctoral program in biostatistics at NYU. I was a teaching assistant at Columbia University in my department and also have tutored graduate students and undergraduates privately as well. My primary areas of tutoring are math and statistics coursework in addition to math sections on standardized tests such as the GRE and GMAT. I am very passionate about helping students feel more confident and excited about math. In my spare time, I enjoy running, playing piano, and spending time with friends and family.
