I'm a sophomore at Rice University majoring in Biosciences and on the premed track. I've had experience tutoring students, ages ranging from kindergarten through high school. I've helped a lot of my peers with AP courses and classes in high school as a peer tutor. I also have experience helping students prepare for the ACT through Varsity Tutors. I've had students go from a 25 to 32 after 2 months of working with them. It's really rewarding to see students learn and expand their own capabilities. I am a PhD chemist with years of teaching experience. I received my PhD in chemistry from Rice University in 2023, where I studied DNA-coated nanoparticles. I taught chemistry lab courses at Rice for 5 semesters and received the Harry B. Weiser Teaching Award for my commitment to undergraduate education. During those courses, I developed my teaching style where I use the Socratic method to help lead students to correct answers/knowledge rather than just giving them information and expecting them to memorize it. I found that helping students learn the right ways to think about chemistry and math showed better long-term success as it prepared them to repeat those strategies in the real world or on tests alone rather than getting used to a teacher feeding them answers. My final two semesters of teaching I worked as a senior teaching assistant overseeing two sections of the general chemistry lab course and managing the junior teaching assistants. At the end of those semesters, of the 44 student evaluations submitted, 95% agreed with the statement "I understand chemistry better because of my TA" with 61% responding that they "strongly agree." Chemistry has been my primary focus for many years, but I also am passionate and familiar with math due to how often it is used in chemistry as well as general/cellular biology due to how my graduate school research projects intersected with biology. In my free time, I enjoy learning how to perform practical chemistry in the kitchen cooking or baking, or relaxing with my cat, Pippin.

I'm a current undergraduate at Rice University in Houston, TX, originally from Brooklyn, New York, currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in philosophy and Spanish. My engagement with middle school students began in the summer of 2019, when I took on the role of a 7th grade writing teacher for Houston-based students. Ever since that initial experience, I have made the continuous effort to continue developing a teaching pedagogy centered around challenging students in their writing while helping them strengthen their assets. I usually maintain a small cohort of 6th to 8th graders as this allows me to really get to know them and provide individualized support based on their academic needs. In addition to providing help with English, I can also tutor students learning Spanish and assist those applying to college.

I am a pediatrician by training and pediatricians are, by nature, educators.I have spent most of my career helping students from high school through medical school learn about medicine.I am skilled at helping students prepare for standardized tests both by learning and reinforcing their knowledge and helping them with test prep and test taking strategy.It's not enough to study hard, developing good and flexible study skills and strategies are paramount.I look forward to helping students on their road to success!

I am a senior majoring in Biomedical Engineering at Rice University. I have had the opportunity to work on several projects through the Institute for Global Health at Rice, and I am passionate about designing globally accessible medical devices. I am an easy going but dedicated student. In my free time, I enjoy intramural sports, spending time with friends, and participating in design competitions.I previously tutored 1st-8th grade students in all subjects for about a year and a half. My favorite subject to tutor is math because it is the most systematic and can easily be taught in a hands-on manner. However, I enjoy tutoring in all subjects. My tutoring style is patient, yet persistent. I believe that every student has the ability to comprehend material if it is explained in the right way, so I am creative in my approach to teaching until the student understands.

I am currently a senior at Rice University. I am majoring in Economics and Biochemistry & Cell Biology. Since I am still a college student, I have taken most subjects recently so the concepts are still fresh in my mind.
