I look for learning problems students may be having, and work with them to overcome the problems so that they succeed. I recognize that age, culture, and life conditions (work, family, economics, environment) also influence how students learn. I consciously look for those influences and will work with students so that these influences do not become a barrier to students' learning experiences and successes. I also recognize that technology is a part of the learning experience and include it to facilitate access to course content, classmates (to support peer learning), and myself. I believe that teaching is not a 9 am-5 pm job, and I meet with students before or after classes, or online to provide the direction or support they need. My focus and goal are student success, and I believe this success will influence the rest of their days.
