No obligation. Takes ~1 minute.

I am a fan of the "Pomodoro Technique," which uses a timer to split each half hour of the session into a 25 minute work period followed by a 5 minute break. The promise of a short respite helps students power through distractions, and the break helps ward off frustration.

I am a Pre-med student at Arizona State University. I have been tutoring at the university for the last year, and it has been a blast! I tutor, general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics I, and some genetics. Organic chemistry is definitely my favorite subject to tutor. It was a challenging subject when I took it, but I really put my mind to it, worked my tail off and I received high marks in my courses. That's why I love it so much. I enjoy showing students that they can overcome difficult courses and challenges just like how I did, and it feels very rewarding to me.
I have over two years of tutoring and teaching experience at Case Western Reserve University. I served as a Supplemental Instructor for ENGR 145 (Chemistry of Materials), where I created worksheets, led review sessions, and helped students develop strong conceptual foundations. I later worked as a Teaching Assistant for ENGR 210 (Circuits and Instrumentation), grading assignments and assisting students with hands-on circuit building and lab work. As a Biomedical Engineering major on the pre-med track, I specialize in tutoring pre-health and engineering courses, including General and Physical Chemistry, Math, Biology, Physics, and Anatomy and Physiology. I also provide MCAT preparation in the B/B, C/P, and P/S sections. My teaching approach focuses on clear explanations, active problem-solving, and adapting to each student's learning style. I strive to make challenging material approachable while helping students build confidence and independent learning skills.
I am a recent graduate from Arizona State University. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelors in philosophy. I will be attending the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law in the fall of 2012. I have always been successful in academics and enjoy school thoroughly. I have also served as a Military Police Officer for the Arizona Army National Guard for over four years.
I'm Liz! I'm so excited to help my students reach their academic goals. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Government and Performance and Communication Arts, and a Master's Degree in Chinese Politics. With a long academic career and lots of experience with standardized tests, I'm ready help prepare my students for their next steps and help them succeed and build confidence where they are now. I can't wait to meet you!
I am teaching, all that matters is working together toward those goals. Watching my students grow empowers me to better myself and strive for personal growth. Tutoring has also taught me that teaching is not just utilitarian. We need teachers, certainly, and teachers serve the purpose of educating. But teachers can also be mentors. Some of the people I most respect and admire, most strive to emulate, most love, have been teachers and tutors. As a tutor I am invested not just in imparting information and understanding, but in my students' well-being and happiness. I look at students as every human deserves to be looked at: holistically.
I am a rising 2L working towards my law degree at Arizona State. I specialize in helping students with Reading and Writing skills. My focus is on creating study habits and techniques that are tailored towards a student's learning style and ability. I'm here to help students succeed in any way that I can by using my own academic experiences. Outside of the classroom, I love sports, hiking, and travel.
I am a graduate of Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. I obtained my Bachelor of Science Degree in Geological Sciences, and also attended Graduate classes while enrolled there. Additionally, I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Sciences from American Sentinel University in Birmingham, Alabama. I have tutored students on many occasions in a variety of subjects. My strengths, however, lie in math and science. I have worked with students of varying ages, from grade school through high school level. My greatest satisfaction is working with a student when they 'get it', understanding a concept that had been confusing or uncertain. While this can be gradual or sudden, you can really see it when it makes sense. I also enjoy helping students prepare for Standardized Tests. My goal is to help them advance, while keeping the material interesting. It is also my hope that I can help students reduce the stress they may feel when preparing to take these tests. I believe that if you continue to learn throughout your life, you will always be growing.
I am also very good at communicating scientific and mathematical concepts in refreshing and understandable ways.
I am looking at their work 'from the outside' and can therefore see where they have improved whereas the student might see their struggles more clearly than their progress. I also believe and emphasize that learning is an ongoing process, and academic skills don't come naturally to most people - they are skills which require practice over time. With a subject like Spanish, I try to relate to the student's struggles by talking about issues that I found difficult as well.
I'm very passionate about helping students in their fundamental knowledge in the subjects I am qualified for and for standardized testing. Outside of school, I am also a volunteer ESL tutor for refugee kids!
I am currently in the process of applying to Law School. I have tutored middle school and high school students in subjects ranging from 5th grade reading to geometry to the SAT. While I am happy and able to tutor a number of subjects, I am most passionate about Test Prep because these scores are very important to students, and I enjoy helping them to conquer the test and succeed. My teaching philosophy can be described as a coaching style in which, like athletics, I believe learning the subject matter, good techniques, and constant practice are the best ways to achieving better scores.
