This process begins unconsciously almost at birth, and is continually shaping the individual's powers, saturating his consciousness, forming his habits, training his ideas, and arousing his feelings and emotions." - John DeweyJohn Dewey's words encompass everything that I believe education to be. It is a right for every child to receive a quality education that does not just test his/her ability to test, but challenges their natural curiosity. School should be a place where mistakes are welcomed and questions are the currency that allows students and teachers to maneuver the educational landscape of a classroom. As a young kid, I struggled to find any passion in school. Thankfully, I had a series of teachers that really helped me find my stride and helped me enjoy my studies, and therefor succeed. I hope to be able to provide this same wonderful opportunity to any student I tutor.

I studied Philosophy and Theatre at the College of Wooster in Ohio and then studied Education at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland where I got my MS. I love tutoring all subjects but am particularly drawn to SAT prep because I know how much just a little extra help can boost a score. I had a great SAT prep tutor when I was in high school, and even though I only met with him twice, my score went up significantly! I love teaching and have over two years of classroom experience. I love to read and believe that through reading, one can improve every aspect of one's life, and I mean that genuinely. I hope to inspire students to continue to read and write as a means to become a great person. When I'm not teaching, I enjoy performing in improv comedy shows, acting, exploring the city, and playing board games.

Learning from a tutor with Johns Hopkins experience means working with someone who understands rigorous coursework and has navigated challenging academic environments. These tutors can share effective study strategies, explain difficult concepts from multiple angles, and provide insight into how to approach problem-solving at a high level. They also understand the expectations of competitive academic settings and can help you develop the habits needed to excel.

Tutors connected through Johns Hopkins bring expertise across many subjects, particularly in STEM fields like chemistry, biology, physics, and mathematics—areas where the university is especially renowned.
