I am currently a senior at Michigan State University majoring in Child Development. I am passionate about working with both children and adults and have been doing so for about eight years, working with children of various age groups. I enjoy both expanding and sharing my knowledge with others, a factor that was very important in helping me to decide to tutor. BIO As a young person in school, I had a great passion for learning, especially, mathematics to a degree far advanced on my own compared to fellow student peers. Just before freshmen year of high school, I taught myself college algebra. During high school, I studied the Calculus BC booklet, took the AP BC test, and scored 5/5, including solving the concluding written question at the end. Finally, as an undergraduate, I was blessed to attain the top academic achievement for all math majors in my class, Co-valedictorian. After attaining a Masters in Applied Math, I changed focus toward a MS in CPS. During these times of graduate school, I taught as a Teaching Assistant in Math, and tutored in the Math Help Room several hours weekly. In my career, I went on to the occupation of web development and programming, which can be seen below. I know history can be one of the more boring subjects, and so my goal is to make it fun and invigorating for students. There are so many amazing and crazy stories that can be found in the past. I have a habit of sharing parody videos and funny images on topics because I feel like they really help the information stick better. I try to involve all different types of learning styles by using videos and songs if applicable. I have visual presentations I use when going over material that students find confusing. I also share those with students so they can use them when studying. While I would feel most comfortable helping students American History, I am not afraid to dust off my skills when it comes to European or World History. When I'm not tutoring, I love spending time with my family, playing piano, watching movies and crafting.

Hello, my name is Shobhna and I am an incoming freshman at Michigan State University! I started tutoring elementary kids in my neighborhood by helping them understand the basics of Math and English. Further exposure to tutoring was through my high school's National Honors Society chapter (NHS). Our chapter's mission was to provide underprivileged members of society care packages with medical and hygiene supplies at homeless shelters and tutor students who had minimal access to academic help outside school. In NHS, I tutored kids in Math, English, Chemistry, and Spanish 1. Not only did I enjoy teaching these subjects, but I also completed these classes with High Honors. Since graduating high school, I'm further motivated to minimize the disparities in education among disadvantaged communities.
