I've been speaking up for others since I learned to speak for myself. My passion for advocacy and my abhorrence of unjust have been the main motivators and values that I hold dear to me, take with me, and implement in all work that I do. Growing up, I never advocated for myself, so seeing someone else do it , let alone a teacher, was incredibly foreign. To be collectivized with other ambitious students meant that I had to want more for myself just as they want for themselves. There are many wonderful views and thoughts on the benefits of education that spark inspiration and motivation. At this moment, the one I would like to share with you is from the late, critically acclaimed filmmaker Stanley Kubrick: "I think the big mistake in schools is trying to teach anything by using fear as the basic motivation. Fear of getting failing grades, fear of not staying with your class, etc. Interest can produce learning on a scale compared to fear as a nuclear explosion to a firecracker." As a proponent of formal and lifelong education, self-discovery, and self-expression, I believe in the exchange of ideas and evaluation of information to successfully choose one's path moving forward. Ignorance and misinformation get us nowhere and only hinder our progress and success. Perhaps the main reason I view education as a passport to personal success is that it allows people to find happiness and satisfaction within themselves instead of using external metrics to measure their accomplishments. This allows people to build confidence within themselves and chase their dreams and unleash their passions. Throughout my academic and clinical training, I have developed a strong passion for education and mentorship, particularly in helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals. I have experience teaching and mentoring students of various ages, teaching mathematics (Algebra, Calculus), English writing, and clinical sciences. I enjoy breaking down complex concepts into clear, understandable lessons and tailoring my teaching approach to each student's individual learning style. As a tutor, I strive to create a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and challenging themselves.

I first became introduced to tutoring my junior year in college when I received the opportunity to work with students in a failing high school. We were tasked with getting the students SAT/ACT ready and subsequently apply for college. One of my proudest moments to date was receiving the news that all students from the program had applied to college.My tutoring experience has since moved on from to a more privatized setting but the reward has remained the same. Working students to build their confidence in and outside the classroom is an indescribable gift that I am fortunate enough to possess. My tutoring style of getting to know the student and parent and developing an action plan unique to the student has proven to be successful and appreciated in the past.I am recent graduate of Howard University, B.A. in Political Science, Magna Cum Laude. I have since been accepted into law school and intend on going in the fall.
