What does a Kansas City ACT course cover?
Individuals can choose to take the ACT with or without the Writing portion. Some universities require a writing section score, while others do not. Make sure to research the universities of your choice before signing up for the ACT to confirm whether or not they request a Writing section score. If you take the ACT without the Writing section, you have 2 hours and 55 minutes to complete the test. If you do choose to take the Writing portion, you are permitted 3 hours and 35 minutes to take the ACT.
The Writing section of the ACT is 40 minutes long and asks one question. Results are scored on a scale of two to 12, with a 12 being the highest. Test-takers are asked to write one essay based on a prompt. The prompt presents an issue and provides three different perspectives on the issue. An individual must write their response through their own perspective and analysis, based on at least one of the provided perspectives. The writing section tests a student's grasp of English, their writing skills, and their ability to organize, analyze, and compare information.
The ACT also consists of an English section. The English section asks 75 questions and takes up to 45 minutes to complete. This multiple choice section uses passage-based questions to measure a student's understanding of English and language skills. For this section, a Kansas City ACT class can help students grasp their knowledge of grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, organization, and so on.
The Reading section of the ACT is a 40 question, multiple choice portion that allows test-takers 35 minutes to complete. This area measures a student's reading comprehension at the level most commonly encountered in the first year of college. Students are tested on their abilities to determine word and phrase meanings, their ability to make connections between different texts, their ability to identify central ideas and themes, and so on.
Next, the Math section of the ACT is a 60 question portion, allowing students one minute per question. Scores are on a scale of one to 36. The Math section is multiple choice, testing students on their knowledge of pre-algebra, elementary and intermediate algebra, coordinate and plane geometry, and trigonometry.
The final section of the ACT is the Science section. The Science section is a 40 question section, and students have 35 minutes to complete this portion. Scores are on a scale of one to 36 and questions are formatted in multiple choice. The Science section determines a test-takers ability to manipulate scientific data, follow the scientific method, and problem solve.

...the Boys and Girls club for five years in the past, and I also tutored Algebra 1 for a year when I was in high school. My ultimate goal is to help students get to a point where they feel confident enough about a subject that they can answer questions without any help and feel prepared for their exams. I can't wait to get back into tutoring and helping students reach their potentials!... My teaching philosophy is that I want to help my students be able to fully grasp everything they need to know for a certain subject, so that they can perform well even when I am not present. While I will provide help along the way, guiding a student to build up his/her own skills to be able to understand these questions on his/her own and feel confident while taking tests is my ultimate goal.
