If you're looking for help studying for the ACT, Varsity Tutors offers a Nashville ACT prep course that can help you review academic subjects and study more effectively. The ACT is known for its challenging format, but this does not have to get in the way of reaching for your test score goals. It's also a long exam; you're allotted 2 hours, 55 minutes to complete the required sections, while the optional Writing section brings this to 3 hours, 35 minutes.
The length, coverage, and format of the ACT present challenges to all students. But college admissions offices see test scores as proof of each student's level of college readiness. Your performance on the exam is important regarding your academic future, but working with an expert instructor online and collaborating with your peers can reduce some of the pressure and trepidation you feel. The right preparation can leave you more knowledgeable and confident. As far as what you can gain from a Nashville ACT course, here is an overview of these resources can help you.
What Does a Nashville ACT Class Cover to Help Me Study?
Effective study skills don't come naturally to every student. Plus, you might not be aware of every learning opportunity you may have, and some topics may not be fresh in your mind. That's why a collaborative preparation option can be so beneficial. An instructor leads a class of online participants in covering the ACT's four required sections: Math, Reading, English, and Science, as well as help in preparing for the optional Writing section. Your performance in these areas provides an accurate assessment of what you've learned and how well you apply these skills.
The Math section spans pre-algebra and elementary and intermediate algebra to coordinate and plane geometry, to trigonometry, over 60 questions. You'll have 60 minutes to answer all of them. Having one minute per question might seem fair, but your understanding of how to solve problems, use graphing, interpret equations, and work with functions and take measurements of geometric shapes and solids is paramount to performing to your expectations.
The Reading section of the ACT is 35 minutes, with 40 multiple-choice questions to answer. It is a test of reading comprehension. To show that you read on a first-year of college level, you need to know the central ideas and themes of each passage, summarize ideas, and point out various meanings of words and phrases. Some questions involve identifying the difference between a fact and opinion or making connections between the texts you are required to read.
In the English section, even more questions are packed into a short time. It is 45 minutes long and includes 75 questions. Like the Reading component of the ACT, it is multiple-choice passage-based questions. But instead of the content and context of the text, you'll need to apply your grammar, punctuation, and usage skills to answer questions and demonstrate a thorough understanding of sentence structure. Other concepts include topic development, organization, and style and tone.
There is also a 35-minute Science section, with 40 questions. Problem-solving skills must be applied here, while you must showcase your ability to interpret, reason with, evaluate, and analyze data, which will be carefully measured based on the answers you choose. Scientific data are presented in a variety of formats for the purpose of analysis and manipulation. The scientific method, investigation, and experimentation, as well as related tools, procedures, and designs, are covered on the ACT.
You also have the option of completing the Writing section. In 40 minutes, you must evaluate an essay question, its issue, and three perspectives of it. Your response must illustrate your own perspective and connect your ideas with one of the three provided. The analysis you provide must be thorough, while your essay must be carefully drafted and organized to show you can write at a freshman college year level.
How Will a Nashville ACT Course Help Me Reach for My Goals?
Whether you attend Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet School, University School of Nashville, or any other public or private school in the area, Varsity Tutors can set you up in a helpful Nashville ACT course. Each course is held online, so you can participate from anywhere and take advantage of an intuitive live virtual platform. You can hear and interact with everyone participating as if they were in the room and see your instructor as they provide topic reviews and discuss the format of the test.
You'll need to know many things about the ACT in addition to the content. However, practice tests can help you remember past subjects and uncover opportunities to focus on. They can also help you get used to how questions and passages are phrased, which can help with your pacing, accuracy, and confidence. Meanwhile, a collaborative approach to learning can add another dimension to your study efforts as the insights and ideas of others can help you acquire new study- and test-taking skills to use now and later.
A Nashville ACT course can also be scheduled at a time that fits your weekday and weekend availability. Sign up for a course during lunch or after school; while weekend options are available too. Whether you prefer a two- or four-week course, we can help you find a Nashville ACT course that doesn't conflict with your other obligations and responsibilities. My goal in life is to get previously frustrated or unhappy students to understand math and stop being so nervous about it. When I'm not striving towards that lofty goal, I'm...

I am driven by the philosophy to "seek not to become a person of success, but a person of value"(Albert Einstein) by helping others.... Knowledge is power, but the application of knowledge is more powerful.... Ask questions about his / her view on learning.... Teach him / her effectively.... Be accessible, engaged, continuously ask questions, and be knowledgeable about the appointed subject.... Differentiate instruction.... Help them to learn how to ask the right questions to understand what they are reading.
