Today we went over the student's last exam so that she can discuss grading inconsistencies with her teacher. We also went through her homework for this week and discussed ways to minimize errors with this new material.

Tutoring review by Lauron in Westwood, NJ
The student and I started by reviewing a homework assignment she had already completed and making sure everything was right. We covered the difference between nominal, ordinal, and scale variables, and I showed her how to create a frequency distribution using Excel to quickly organize the data. Then we talked about the differences between a t-test, ANOVA, ANCOVA, and MANOVA, and what research questions would be best for each type of analysis. She is going to work on her next assignment in SPSS so that we can discuss how to interpret her analysis the next time we meet.

Tutoring review by Benedetto in Westwood, NJ
We reviewed most practice questions for her upcoming midterm exam. I focused on alternative solution methods that make more sense to the student, her use of the scientific calculator, and Venn diagrams. The student needed help to apply some of the formulas for linear regression fitting, so I made sure she had a step by step comprehension of their use.

Tutoring review by Colleen in Westwood, NJ
We decided to concentrate on math in this session. The student had another review worksheet to do, which concentrated on finding the slope, midpoint, and length of a line segment on a coordinate axis. Each of these is easy to do, but each takes a different formula, so when you put them all together, it's easy to get mixed up. They also threw in a geometry problem involving a simple proof for congruent triangles, and since he hadn't seen geometry for a very long time, he needed help with this proof. Overall, he seems to be doing well in math.
