Today was the student's first session. She completed a Diagnostic Assessment. She did well on the assessment, in regards to getting the correct answers and understanding the concepts. Moving forward, I will work with her on multiplying greater numbers, division facts, division of greater numbers, and division with remainders. This will help her save time during testing sessions so that she will be able to complete all questions correctly and efficiently.

We worked on understanding scale factors and how increasing areas of polygons changed the side lengths. We talked about areas of polygons and using difference methods to find areas that wouldn't have an easy formula. We'll review for the upcoming test on Wednesday.

Tutoring review by Rachel in Terrell, TX
In today's session we focused on getting some accumulated homework done and preparing for the Milestones. We worked hard on those and then worked on some practice tests for the Milestones. The student had a very positive attitude during our time together. She is very committed and does her best every time. As an EL student there are sometimes some vocabulary that is not clear to her, but often with just being given a synonym or short explanation, she gets the idea and can do the work on her own. We made a plan for finishing her assigned activities over the weekend so she can turn everything in on Monday.

Tutoring review by Sobur in Terrell, TX
The concept discussed today was finding the solution of an equation and solving inequalities. I started by highlighting ways of solving quadratic equations; factorization, graphing, use of quadratic formula, and completing the square. We were able to go over factorization and use of quadratic formula. We also went over solving simple inequality expressions and absolute inequalities. The student was confused at first on how to get the right factors to use for factorization. After solving couple of questions, he was able to do 3 extra questions I assigned him. I was able to share important steps to know what factors to use while factorizing; 1. Multiply first (a) and last terms (c) if ax^2+x+c=0 2. Find two factors of the product in (1) above that when added or subtracted will result to the middle term (b). For homework, I sent 5 question by email to his mom as agreed. His homework performance will indicate if revisiting inequality is needed. He seems to be making progress, and I strongly believe he will meet his goal.
