Tutoring review by Josh in Salem, VA
We went over the chapter 6 test review, and worked on 6.1 which was composite functions - found the domain and range of f(g(x)) where f(x) = (2x-1)/(x-2) and g(x) = 1/x. Section 6.2 was finding the inverse of functions. This is done by replacing the x in an equation with y and solving for y. The domain and range of the inverse function is opposite of the normal function. Section 6.3 was graphing inverse functions and how transformations change the graph from the parent equation, and 6.4 introduced logarithm. It is recommend that the student memorize the formula A^x=y then log base A (y) = x. Section 6.5 was the properties of log. This included how to add, subtract and move exponents around in log form. Section 6.6 was review of logs, and it put together all of the properties. It also included the equation to change the base of a log. After doing the test review, I would say the student is pretty confident on composite functions and finding the inverse of a function. I would recommend that the student work on changing log bases and memorize the 3 key text boxes for the properties of logarithm that I showed him.

Tutoring review by Travis in Salem, VA
We covered ionization energy, electronegativity, and atomic radius. We discussed how both ionization energy and electronegativity are highest in general in the upper right and lowest in the lower left. We looked at exceptions to this trend, such as the completed s orbital for ionization energy and the completed half p orbital for ionization energy as well. We also looked at the electronegativity for all the atoms using the periodic table and showed how the trend has many exceptions.
