Tutoring review by Jeffrey in Park Ridge, NJ
The student started a new unit in her math class on the metric system. She had homework that dealt with converting various lengths between km, m, cm, and mm. We worked on some practice problems similar to her homework and also estimated the lengths of things in the metric system, for example feet are closest to meters, inches to centimeters and miles to kilometers. I felt like she had made some progress towards the end of our session. The metric system is usually one of the harder topics to grasp, and I thought she did a great job!

This was my first session with the student. She's taking a Stats class and has a decent handle on it, but is a little daunted by just how much material there is! Today we just dug into two chapters, the ones she's currently on, but next week, in addition to moving forward, we'll also review stuff from before so she can be solid on her exam. She seemed to understand the current material pretty well, but she is also having difficulties in the class. I'm guessing her issue is more about differentiating the different types of problems than actually solving them.

Tutoring review by Lalitha in Park Ridge, NJ
Today we covered how to determine the number of solutions given for two linear equations. First, we learned how the various solutions look graphically, and then we learned how to simply determine whether there were no solutions, one solution, or infinitely many solutions by just looking at the given equations. The student finished her homework for the weekend, as well as tomorrow night's homework. We ended our session by going over what we covered last session and this session. She did a wonderful job today. She was attentive and focused the entire time!

Tutoring review by John in Park Ridge, NJ
We went over his review sheet for the in-class test he is taking on Friday. He understood most of the concepts fairly well. He only needed a little bit of help with some scatter plot questions that involved transforming the equation and some questions about normal distribution.

The student completed her Math and History homework for tomorrow. She also reviewed for her Sacred Studies test on Thursday. She made flashcards for the questions she did not know or did not know well. As she had completed her homework for the day and had extra time, she began tomorrow's History homework. She told me how well she is doing in Math this year. She made a 92 on her last test!
