How much does it cost to study with a private tutor in Philadelphia?

Because Varsity Tutors will find you a Philadelphia tutor based on your needs and learning preferences, the price for tutoring is influenced by several different factors. However, the assistance of a private instructor is worth it.

Working with a personal teacher gives you the opportunity to receive custom-tailored guidance that can be designed with your goals in mind. When planning your lessons, your mentor can consider your strengths and weaknesses, your preferred learning style, and your goals and desired outcomes. They can use this information to inform how they will structure your lessons, so you can get the learning experience you're looking for. As such, some students may require more attention than others, which could influence the price of tutoring sessions.

Suppose you're the parent of a student attending Greenberg Elementary, and you want to find a math tutor who can help them once a week with their studies. The cost of private lessons could be different than scheduling extensive LSAT tutoring sessions every weekend. Maybe you're studying biology at a school like Central High School and you want to participate in group study sessions with a private teacher in Philadelphia. The hourly cost of these lessons may not be the same as 1-on-1 tutoring sessions.

As you can see, there are a number of elements that affect the cost of private lessons. We suggest calling or emailing us to speak with an Educational Director. They can help you come up with a personalized study program, then give you a quote based on the exact services you're looking for.

What are the steps to find a private tutor in Philadelphia?

Finding a personal tutor in Philadelphia is a breeze when you choose Varsity Tutors. Every instructor we recommend has been thoroughly vetted.

More than 40,000 professional educators are part of our network, and we're confident that we will set you up with a tutor who's a great match for you. Whether you're studying a subject like economics in high school or you're a parent of a student at a school like Julia R. Masterman Secondary School, we'll connect you with a qualified instructor who can help you reach for your goals.

If you've ever looked for your own private instructor, you already know how difficult it can be to find someone who's capable and compatible with your learning preferences. Not only do you need to verify their teaching skills, but you also have to make sure they're knowledgeable in the subject you need help with. However, you won't have this problem when we find a private Philadelphia tutor for you. Simply connect with us when you're ready to study with a professional instructor. We will find you a tutor who can work with you privately or set you up with a group learning program. Both options give you the chance to benefit from detailed explanations, hands-on assistance, and engaging activities that can help you remember even the most challenging concepts covered in your lessons.

Is there a variety of tutoring options available in Philadelphia?

You will have a wide range of options to choose from when you let Varsity Tutors find you a qualified tutor in Philadelphia. Having the opportunity to learn from a program designed specifically for you means you can decide how you want to study.

If you want to prepare for a college entrance exam like the ACT, we'll connect you with a personal instructor who can review the test material and help you improve your test-taking strategies. If you want to review high school algebra in a group setting, we'll find a private teacher in Philadelphia who offers group study sessions.

Are you a parent who's homeschooling your student? We know how difficult it can be in charge of creating your student's curriculum. That's why many parents turn to private tutors for assistance. An academic mentor can supplement the material you're teaching or help them overcome particularly difficult concepts.

Every tutoring session will take place over our Live Learning Platform. This enables all students to study from the comfort of their own homes. Best of all, the platform includes a number of features to improve the learning experience. For example, you can use Learning Assessments to assess your knowledge of a specific topic. If there are areas you struggled with, the platform will automatically create a study guide that focuses on your weaker areas. The Learning Lab is another great feature that allows you to track your performance over time and create personalized learning plans.

What are the criteria for selecting tutors in Philadelphia?

Varsity Tutors thoroughly vets every prospective tutor in Philadelphia before pairing them with students. We understand that everyone learns differently, and good tutors must be able to think outside the box when planning lessons.

That's why we look at factors such as personality, creativity, and communication skills when selecting mentors that can help you reach for your goals. Whether you want to supplement your classroom lessons or you want to find someone to help your homeschooled student dive deeper into various topics, we'll find you a professional capable of creating an individualized learning experience that helps set you up for success.

When you reach out to us to get help finding a private instructor, you can rest easy knowing we'll find you an educator who knows how to create lessons that complement your learning style. The student didn't have her math book today, so we talked about her upcoming "for and against" essay. She plans on writing it about her position on whether it is better to stand up for one's convictions or not. Then, we studied conjugations of the verb "ir".

The student and I finished up her second hormone packet. We went over the pathway that insulin takes to lower our blood sugar and we contrasted this against the pathway that glucagon takes to raise our blood sugar when we fast. We also discussed how our body detects the presence of insulin and the transporters that get inserted into the plasma membrane of body cells. We touched on the posterior pituitary and the two hormones it produces as well as the role of oxytocin and prolactin in milk production and ejection in the female body. We began her first neuro packet and spent some time discussing the big idea behind how chemical gradients across a membrane relate to neural function. We discussed how ion channels distinguish between which types of molecules it will allow through as well.

The student prepared an outline for the essay-writing final tomorrow, as well as a full introduction and conclusion. He wrote extremely polished versions of both that he will study for the in-class essay. We talked a little bit about the body of the essay, but focused our time on developing a strong thesis statement and conclusion. It is an in-class essay, so I'm hopeful that it will be a good start for the new year.
