Tutoring review by Samuel in Minnetrista, MN
We worked on reviewing the student's previous exam. She did not do very well, but the material on the exam seems to represent well the whole semester. We make math review cards as we cover and review this material. I plan to continue this process as we move into next semester since the student has responded well to it.

Tutoring review by Jared in Minnetrista, MN
The student and I covered multiplication tables, long multiplication, subtraction, number tables, and rounding to the nearest tenth place. The student seems to not have a great understanding of how the number table works. She still has some difficulty counting forward and backwards from 100 because she doesn't have a mental picture of how numbers are set up. This makes it very difficult for her to learn new skills in math. She also has a problem with guessing and doesn't always like thinking through the problem. I showed her visually an easy way to memorize the numbers table from 1-100. She shows slight improvement.

Tutoring review by Kristie in Minnetrista, MN
We worked on direct variation, quadratics, indirect variation and transformations today. The student is able to determine if a function in direct or indirect variation, able to find the constant of variation and use it to create an equation. He "got" quadratics quickly and transformations came easily to him. He took 3 quizzes (100's) and took the major part (1) of the unit test on functions and relations and got 100 on it also.

The student and I worked on her Math work dealing with metric units and conversion. We talked about powers of ten and scientific notation. We also began working on her History, in which she read about arguments for or against independence from patriots and loyalists from the 13 colonies, and writes a letter of agreement to one and of disagreement to another. The student showed a lot of enthusiasm for her work during this session, particularly in Science.
