First the student shared with me that she earned 100% on the test she took at the beginning of the week. She wanted to look at an assignment that involved solving a system of equations. It was the 2nd assignment for that section and had several problems that required a bit more thought or did not work out nicely. The systems of equations included 3-4 equations and unknowns. The methods used to solve the equations were substitution and elimination. We started each problem by evaluating it to discuss what the best route to solving it might be before we started.

Today I was impressed with the student. He has a book report essay test coming up and he had typed his thoughts out for me to look at tonight. I looked at it and gave him suggestions for improvements, however, he is on the right track. We also went over a history assignment that was over-due.

Tutoring review by Gerald in Midlothian, TX
Today we reviewed the student's tests from last week: she got a 100 on her spelling test, but I was especially pleased that she asked that we really focus on the meanings (vocabulary) for the next list of words. We did word study again, and she was pleased that she did well (87% correct) on the first pre-test we did together. We reviewed her multiplication math facts, and she did well, only having difficulty with the 12's. We reviewed her homework, especially as she is starting a new chapter on multiplication, division, and factoring. She was very engaged, and shared the things she did well. She was really engaged.

I assisted the student with math today and then we worked on his writing. We also continued working on his project which is due this Friday. We finished his letter to the producer and got started on his drawings. Tomorrow we will type up the letter and he will draw on his book jacket. He is becoming very proactive as he decided to finish some homework in class today during his free time. I'm very proud of him.

She did a great job! he will be taking the PSAT next Wednesday, so we talked a bit about that. On Monday, we will review some of the material in her PSAT pamphlet.
