Tutoring review by Marcello in La Mesa, CA
We covered the Science portion of the test. He scored a 23, but while we were reviewing and working through a second practice test together, he did much, much better. My guess is that he reads questions too quickly on the first go and misses/misreads key words. Seems to be doing fine on timing. Next session, we'll focus on the Writing section. We decided that the sixth and final session will be on Th 9/8 as a final review before the 9/10 exam date. If this test does not go as planned, the parents are also planning for the October test date.

Today, the student and I worked on both reading comprehension and math.  I had her work through some open-ended questions and some multiple choice questions.  We talked about when certain strategies would benefit her in the math section - even the guess-and-check strategy.  We also reviewed the homework that I assigned her, which was a section of reading comprehension.  I had the student apply one more reading comprehension strategy to a section of passage-based questions
