This session, the student and I began with words that start with "u". She is getting better with her short vowel sounds! She had a LOT of energy, so I decided to practice some sight words with her -- first, she cut out some squares that each had a simple sight word on it (her cutting skills are great, by the way!). Then for each word, I had her try to sound it out if applicable, then I told her the word and she used it in a sentence (she did this on her own! It was great). We reviewed the spelling, then moved on. She was able to identify about 75% of the words on the second viewing --really great work! Then we practiced writing numbers for a little while, especially the numbers which continue to give her a little trouble. Overall, she's really doing great and I look forward to next session!

The student worked ahead of her math class at school.  She added polynomial fractions, solved for "x", used the distributive property, simplified polynomial radicals, reviewed prime numbers, worked on exponential laws, and started on graphing lines from the slope-intercept form -> y=mx+b.

I reviewed an essay the student wrote as a critique of a film.  It was very well-written, and there were few grammatical mistakes.  We went over these and their corrections.  I spent the rest of the time quizzing the student on a series of verbs conjugated in the following tenses: present, passé compose, imparfait, subjunctive, conditional, imperative and present participle.  We have a number of verbs, so we will continue in this manner until the final exam next week.

Today we worked through a geometry review packet. The student is doing very well on the problems and is solving them with only minimal guidance. Tomorrow we will continue working on the packet and possibly move on to some chemistry review.
