After a week off, we met up again and went over solutions, solubility, osmotic pressure, and a few other topics. We did some example problems from the student's homework and so he should be able to complete what was assigned. The student still needs to memorize the ionic charges and solubility charts.

We worked on a special writing assignment based on an exercise from my own workshop.  It involves writing a scene for a story while obeying certain rules, such as how many characters must be in the scene, choosing a setting in which weather becomes a character (such as the hottest day of the year that causes the AC to stop working), and creating a character that's the same age as the student.  The student created a web of details for the back story of his characters and seemed very eager to start writing.  We will work on this project on and off throughout the semester.

The student and I worked through his section on matrices and linear systems today. He had no trouble understanding the properties of matrix addition and multiplication and how they differed from the properties of real addition and multiplication; however, in applying those properties to solve problems, he sometimes had trouble remembering what property he was using on each step. On Friday we will continue with applications of matrices.

Tutoring review by Ishita in Corinth, TX
The student worked on identifying parallel lines using corresponding, same side, and alternate interior angles. She's doing quite well with it overall. She has a test tomorrow on two column proofs. Although she still has minor issues figuring out the logical order of steps, she's much more comfortable with it after today's practice.
