I am a recent graduate from Mercer University where I majored in Spanish and was Pre-Medicine, minoring in Chemistry and Biology. I love sharing my interest in the Spanish language with others, and after studying in Spain I value the importance of conversational learning. I like to make learning a foreign language fun while stressing the importance of a broad vocabulary and proper grammar. I am also very strong in mathematics, and have worked with students to improve their math skills. As a recent graduate, I am incredibly familiar with the common struggles of students. Also, I have taken many standardized tests and am currently preparing for the MCAT so I would love to help others prepare for the SAT or ACT. I look forward to working with all kinds of students!

I am currently studying at Mercer University seeking a degree in mechanical or electrical engineering. I have helped a family through my church by tutoring kids in math. Subjects I can teach: pre-algebra, algebra I, algebra II, pre-cal, trigonometry, geometry, and calculus. I personally enjoy geometry the most because every question is like a visual puzzle. Generally I like to fully understand what the student knows before assuming anything; after this, I walk them through example questions and finally have them attempt some on their own. Outside my schoolwork, I am interested in technology, movies, and video games.

I have always lived by the Golden Rule, to treat everyone the way you want to be treated. This is not a difficult task for me to support. I have always had a mindset of equality and fairness. My exposure to various races and ethnicities has always taught me to do right by others. This is no different than how I manage my classroom or conduct me anywhere I may find myself. This is important that everyone is cordial and respectful to one another. Holding this rule in mind makes me a better educator and an all-around better human being.I absolutely love making sure each student that I encounter, whether individually or in a group setting, understands the concept that there can be "fun in learning".I have taught English in all sectors - middle school, high, and even college-level courses. I love to read and write, and all that goes along with those concepts. I adore bringing English to life - especially since a few other disciplines think that English (language as a whole) is not a critical subject - and this is why I am so enamored with teaching this subject."Without English Language Arts, where would we be?"

I've worked as teacher at the collegiate level for close to ten years. In that time, I've worked with many, many students of varying skill levels and ages. I've learned that success has much more to do with discipline and focus than it does god-given talent. Writing is a process with its own rules-rules that all students can learn with patience. It's important to remember, though, that the craft of writing is also about adaptation and improvisation. These are all virtues I regard highly and look to instill them in my students whenever possible.

Also, I was an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher during undergraduate school.Beginning Spanish and ESL are my only tutoring subjects. I love tutoring Spanish because it is a beautiful language with a vibrant culture. Practically speaking I tutor Spanish because in today's world it is beneficial to be bilingual. Which is why I also enjoy teaching ESL. Another reason I enjoy teaching ESL is it increases my tutoring capabilities of Spanish.I would describe my tutoring style as personal. When I was a student, my best teachers were the ones who listened to their students needs and taught us in the most helpful manner possible.Outside of work, I enjoy listening to live music, pretty much any kind of live music. I love reading supernatural, sarcastic, and historical books. And I absolutely love movies. I am a big fan of all the superhero movies and shows coming out as of late. I am passionate about helping students because I believe that they are not only our future but they deserve to be the best they can without limitations. My experience working with students has been being a substitute teacher on and off for the past year and a half and homeschooling my children for three years. I have faced numerous challenges with them and learned a lot in how to accommodate their learning needs both being Autistic and having combined ADHD. I have been with Varsity Tutors for the past 2 years and love working with a multitude of different students while watching them grow! I received my Bachelor of Science degree in 2023 from Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia with a background in Early Childhood/Special Education and finished off in Mental Health. I enjoy teaching ELA especially to K-5 because these are the most important years to develop critical skills needed to succeed in the future. I believe that in order to help a child learn more effectively that it is important to make the lessons relatable. Helping students empathize with characters, places and concepts, especially when those things are different from their own life experiences improves their ability to comprehend the material. In addition, I feel that allowing children to utilize their imaginations through writing and drawings inhibits growth mindset which if vital for development. When children are engaged, they are more willing to learn. I cannot wait to start working with you and watching you grow while becoming more confident in yourself!

She is an emergency room nurse at Memorial Hermann Southwest Medical Center. My passion is for lifelong learning and particularly how it relates to medicine and the human body. I think that it is essential for young people to have someone in their life who is excited about learning and who can impart that passion to them. I strive to be a tutor who accomplishes this goal.I have numerous hobbies which I like to partake in whenever given the chance. I enjoy playing and watching all different sports, but primarily find time to play basketball. I am very interested in fitness and health and enjoy cooking in my spare time. I also enjoy playing games on my Wii and PC, as well as reading all different genres of literature. In high school I spent a great deal of time volunteering to tutor elementary students in a variety of subjects including reading, writing, arithmetic, science, and Latin. I college I was primarily a tutor for introductory chemistry, biology, and math. I also volunteered tutoring math and science to 5th and 3rd graders while in college and enjoyed it greatly. My favorite subjects to tutor are elementary math and science because I think it is essential to get young students excited in these subjects as early as possible. I strive to make the tutoring process as fun as possible while maintaining a focus on the material. I think it is important to help the students become independent learners and encourage them to be able to use logic to learn to material. You can learn so much about a person by examining what he or she reads. My favorite book is entitled, "Mindset" by Carol S. Dweck and it is unequivocally phenomenal. In order to provide you with a brief synopsis, I will simply say that it addresses two different mindsets, one is a "fixed" mindset and the other is a "growth" mindset. As a tutor, I am a firm believer in the "growth" mindset because I know that a person can increase their achievement, in virtually any arena, if he or she decides to put more effort towards growth in that particular arena. As a tutor, I will encourage each and every student to carefully examine what he or she thinks and says in regards to his or her ability in that area. I will share stories of people who are famous for their accomplishments, not because they are exceptionally gifted, but because they chose to invest the time to work towards growth and excellence. That, I believe, makes success attainable for everyone.
