The student has received some really great scores on some projects he turned in toward the end of the 6 weeks. He is consistently writing in his planner, and he is staying on top of all the tasks and assignments he has. We worked on reorganizing his Spanish notebook, then studied for his upcoming Spanish quiz and geography test.

The student and I spent the session discussing his schedule and how he has been doing with time management. It sounds like he is still adjusting to this new schedule, but that he is making progress. He told me he has been staying on a strict schedule, both in terms of allotting an appropriate amount of time to each task each day and in breaking his homework into 45-minute blocks and tackling them one block at a time. We also spent some time discussing his recent essay in his Communications class. We then ended with some pre-Algebra review.

We also covered handout assignments for his psychology course. He is doing well keeping up with assignments and readings for courses. We have discussed various strategies and skills to keep him on the right track and motivated in his coursework throughout the semester.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Paul in Tulsa, OK
At the beginning of the session, the student's mother informed me that he had a writing project for Journalism class that is due tomorrow. She mentioned concerns about his level of efficiency. During our previous session, he had showed me a rough draft of an article that he had been working on for this class, and tonight we worked on the final draft. He was able to come up with some good ideas for his article on his own.

Study Skills and Organization Tutoring review by Jessica in Tulsa, OK
The student and I had a very productive and positive session today! He had started his two homework assignments for that evening. After organizing his materials, I had him finish his old math assignment once and for all. Then we were able to spend time working on factoring a polynomial made of perfect squares. He remembered the steps we had practiced (a major win!) and was able to do the second problem relatively quickly! He even commented on how little time it took to do each problem. I tried to hype this up to get him feeling confident. Then, I had him email the work directly to his teacher. We officially checked that assignment off the to-do list. Before leaving, I had him talk through the two remaining assignments he had to do that night. I also left a checklist with assignments due, known late assignments to do over the weekend, assignments we're not sure about (are they late? or were they classwork?), and a daily checklist that he and his mom can use to keep him on track until our session next Wednesday. I'm hopeful that he kept the positive momentum going and will be in good shape for our next session.
